yea I was using that, but I've never used usenet before. I didn't know where to find my news addy, but I got that. also should I use ssl if it available?

No, not if you are getting good speeds.
SSL is only used to get around traffic shaping by your ISP.

It is encryption. But other than hiding the transfer protocol from your ISP so they won't throttle the traffic, it's pretty pointless.

It also hides the type of traffic. Useful if you don't want anyone to know what you're downloading.

i've heard chatter though that many state side ISP's and Canadian ISP's are placing 512k caps on SSL ports as well. Hopefully my employer doesn't ever try and emplement that standard where i live at.
