I was gonna say Dylan too, though he didn't write House Of The Rising Sun.
It may have been Woodie Guthrie, but I think it's actually
older than that....I don't think anyone really knows who wrote it. Just one of those old folk songs.

I fail to see how Bruce Springsteen can be classed with him, though.

I guess his voice is a bit of an aquired taste. I like it too.

this post is guaranteed 100% parrot-free

Yeah i just realised that it wasn't written by Dylan...and it wasn't written by Guthrie either although most of Dylan's work is inspired by Gurthrie...Libby Reynolds Holmes originally wrote the lyrics (for the Bob Dylan version) and Joshua White wrote the lyrics for The Animals version...and the music was taken from taditonal folk sources...

There are two songs that I have narrowed it down to:

Bob Dylan - Tangled Up and Blue
    The Beatles - Dear Prudence

I cannot make a choice between those two. Although I like the Jerry Garcia Band's live covers of both songs.

Heck, that entire ablum has incredible lyrics. All of Floyd's albums with Roger Waters were incredibly deep and thought provoking (Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and Animals, etc.). But now I just don't think they're nearly as good anymore.
