What!! You've got running water? What part of OZ are you from then?

The bastards have been promising us running water for years! And bloody sewage.

Oh, well, we get electricity next year, so I shouldn't complain.

Good:
Nice weather if you’re not in Melbourne (rains) or Darwin (Tropical)

Good Standard of living

Universal Heath Care and PBS prescription benefit scheme keeps prescription drugs cheaper (both currently under attack from John Howard)

Good welfare system (also under attack)

Industrial relations commission - sets basic award rates (no minimum wage crap) and conditions for different jobs has given raises to lowest award rates for the past two or three years because of union claim this filters though to all awards automatically, the average raise for each year was $15 a week so in the past three years the lowest awards have gotten $45 - $60 raise per week, thou tax has eaten quite a bit away.

Imported goods becoming cheap because of rise in the Australian $$$

Bad:
John Howard, Prime minister and ass licker.

Owning your house becoming expensive especially in Sydney.

Locking up refugees in "Detention Camps"(Prisons)

Telstra - retarding broadband

Boiling hot days in summer 40 degrees Celsius.

Wouldn’t trust the unemployment figures thou, your considered employed if you volunteer or work for more than 1 hour a week.

Overall Australia is a better place to live than the UK or the US.

@ BD... that's coz i live in paradise.... Western Australia...

the only thing we dont have... is free airconditioning.... though maybe they think we can go down the beach if we get too hot?...

ummm and we dont have as many nasty spiders over this side either!...

Ya got goddam bloody big cockroaches though Honey, I'd never met one til I moved to Perth..... we've got them up here too.

Yep, that's the downside, the creepy crawlies (not the Aussie male ones, the 6 -8 legged varieties).

We do co-exist fairly well though!

That's the 6 -8 legged variety as opposed to the 2 legged ones.
