Also don't some recent studies out of Canada suggest that vaping may actually be worse for you than smoking? I ask because I don't generally pay much attention to tobacco and tobacco users beyond they can all go and fuck themselves.

Don't ban it. That doesn't work. Look at American alcohol prohibition in the 1920s and the never ending unsuccessful war on drugs. Make it all legal and tax it. Use the money to fund healthcare and infrastructure. The problem is governments are wasteful and bad at fiscal responsibility. Their is no oversight and even if there is, it doesn't get enforced.
All of the unhealthy products available in our "free" countries are why healthcare is expensive (including other reasons). All of it should be taxed extra to help pay for healthcare. If people like having the freedom to eat/drink/use unhealthy products that end up putting an unnecessary burden on our healthcare systems, they should have to pay for it. Not the people that don't consume that crap.

Last I recollect anyone mentioning it, chew or cigarettes were in the neighborhood of 7-8 American dollars per can/pack.
I agree as to the stupidity of tobacco use: I say this as one who smoked from the age of about 15 (when my athletic career ended abruptly) to the age of 44, when I had my first heart attack.
Vaping seems to have become subject to shysterism right out of the box - "legitimate" products have been spoofed, the market for these products has become rife with dangerous substances distributed outside the marginally effective regulatory 'box' the Feds
institute to assure some semblance of quality while collecting taxes.
The argument that the casualty-count stems from these abuses cannot be adequately countered at this point.
These is talk of outlawing "vaping" until product legitimacy can somehow be assured.
To me, any/all of these habits demonstrate the human bent toward natural selection - it's like declaring war...on oneself.
