Whenever i burn i a regular music cd with a cd-r my xbox refuses to read them, but when i burn them with cd-rw's my xbox reads them fine. Is there any way to burn a cd-r to have your xbox be able to read them?

i had that same problem until i got a modship
no way around this problem apart from a mod chip.
cd-rw's are very much like the cds you purchase with content already on them.
cd-rs are very different thats why they dont play very well. splash out on some rw's they are cheap.
There are 3 disc drives on the x-box...i have the new phillips drive which means i can play CD-R's no worries
It's a very common problem...there has been lots of talk about it...
mine reads cd-r just fine..not modded or anything

a couple of brands of CD-R's do not read...but the main brand i buy works perfectly...only the thomson drives are the ones which cannot read CD-R's and have trouble reading anything anymore, there was a huge uproar about it at the start of the year when all of this got found out...but now the problem has been fixed...get a new x-box damn m$...Originally posted by Jibbler@10 August 2004 - 08:59

Actually Jibs, does your x-box play VCD's or SVCD's ?
i havent tried it out yet on mine, my DVD drive on my puter is fucked and i need to buy a new one...or a dvd burner...which will save a hell of a lotta time...but if i can get away with watching VCD's for the time being it would be great, well that or buy a dvd player that plays VCD's for $70...decisions, decisions...i still love my x-box tho
