I don't have a guide but the whole idea is pritty simple:
Connect your xbox to your home network (via hub or router), as default the XBOX is set (through it's various hacked OSs) to a static IP of 192.168.0.22 and has a built in FTP server/client.
After you've connected the XBOX to the home network, lauch your xbox OS (such as avalaunch) and go to your PC, in your pc use any ftp client and just transfer the files from your pc to xbox.
Now you can view them in your XBMC.

No, not ftp to the xbox.
I need to stream video files.
same here, any clues on how? also, music files too, not just video (mp3).

just create a shared folder on pc with vids or whatever in it, and then in XBMC go to: Videos, Workgroup Network, and you will see that shared folder, and in it your vids 'n stuff. or you can share whole harddrive...
