I can understand when it's a bit moist, however surely when it's really dry fisting is a dangerous option.

It just makes good sense to be adaptable, seems to me.
Goaltenders have to have all-round ability to deny penetration to those who would trespass with abandon.
Of course, the open-hand/fist issue is just another iteration of the length vs. girth question...perhaps a distaff member would render an opinion?
