I want a new mp3 player some where in the $200 - $250 range with 30+gb of storage. I plan on mostly using it as a replacement for my car stereo player. What is the best one to get?

Don't get an iPod. I've never bought one myself, I was always waiting for another, better alternative to be released. Look at the new 80GB Microsoft Zune, it's wayyy better although it's extremely hard to find this holiday season. As soon as it is available online, I am going to buy one and I had to sell my DS to get some money for it.

I was looking at the Zune, seems like it might be more bang for the buck but I didn't know if it was an inferior product.

No, dude, it's way better. Zune has a a 3.2" screen compared to the iPod's 2.5" screen, built in WiFi, it has a better sounding music store, and same price as 80 gig iPod. The iPod is inferior, IMO.
Another Zune review.

Go Snatch a Judge
Zune is very cool. I always went with the company Iriver They had better prices and more options than the I-Poop. The player I think I'm going to get next is the Creative Labs Zen vision W It's a little bigger than I normally like but It's an awesome player with great reviews on Cnet and many other places

I think 30GB ipods are more than $250 ,but you can get the Microsoft Zune, they are good also , and the price is more reasonable. I got to know a Microsoft Zune 30GB Player for $130 in stead of $250 :
