I didn't even know AOL still existed. Learn something new every day.
Go Leafs Go.
anyone on AOL should switch to Be*/O2 and all your problems will vanish
AOL, Tiscali, Orange, Virgin, Sky(I think) and another one signed an anti piracy thingy and they first block your speeds, then (hopefully) they will send you a couple of letters asking you to stop torrenting then Ol Bill will knock at you door... The funny thing is that you are a 15 years old little mug who was just trying to get a few porn films for him and his mates to watch...
In other words, a friend of a friend was nicked from his home by 20 odd Ol' Bill. He was a real pirate... he had hundreds of illegal copies and 20 grand cash from selling them... Is it worth it? Just if you are smart and they dont nick you
Anyone in the UK goto this website, www.samknows.com and enter your postcode and phone number and it will tell you if there are any LLU providers at you local exchange.
I would recomend Sky/Easynet(UKONLINE) Be/O2
Check it out and PM me if you need help with your choices.
Depends if you are on the re-badged BT IPStream product or Easynet's LLU.
Im with UKONLINE which are owned by SKY and i get the full 24meg downstream my router connects at.
no throttling at all and get full throughput 24hrs a day.
Sky dont even have a Fair Usage Policy anymore on their LLU product so you know thay aint gonna be throttling you for using to much bandwidth.
So it comes down to the copper wire coming from the local exchange to your house. Depends on how far you are from the exchange, how much noise is on the line and if the line is made of Aluminium and not copper, well your fooked.

I was using AOL about a year ago cuz I didnt know any better, after eventually escaping the contract I switched to Be Unlimited and my speed on torrents went from 220kBs to 1600kBp/s and AOL claimed they were not throttling and that was the maximum speed they could provide. wtf!
