Any video editing geeks here? What sw would you recommend for editing home videos? Has to be able to handle DVD's as I have som old VHS tapes converted to DVD's.
TIA

I used Sony Vegas for the longest time. It's pretty easy and quite powerful. Not great for really precise cutting, but great for what you want to do.

I have tried them all and my favorite is Premiere. Takes a bit of learning but then it will do anything and everything.

I say final cut X or i movie for mac if you're only doing home videos. PC, Sony Vegas or windows movie maker should be fine. Final Cut 7, Premiere, Avid, those are the heavy hitters and if you don't have the time to dedicate you'll lose your mind before you ever get anything done

I do most editing on the Mac and thus use FCPX. It's overkill but I assume you'll be pirating whatever you go with.
For Windows I use VideoPad.
