<Illuminati - once again - starts with the unconcious talk>
until you get the product of the fingers on the right hands of everyone in the world, what is the final total?
I'll take a pot shot and say it's either 5^4 = 625 or 5^6 = 3125 (depends on whether you accept thumbs as a finger for this riddle). I'll explain my reasoning if I ever wake up

Me and a friend were digging this hole.
We each had a spade of the same design, size and material.
Between us we managed to dig thirteen holes in two and a quarter hours.
Assuming that we have similar physical attributes, that the holes were all of the same size and that the digging of the thirteen holes was distributed equally between us, if I were digging on my own, how long would it take me to dig one half hole?

sorry, i didn't mean amplififes as in increases the sound intensity, i meant it tempers the sound so that it carries over a further distancs.

<Illuminati keeps spitting the gum out - Only the authentic stuff can help; synthetic does sod all>
Need riddles. Need solutions. Need cigars.
How bout this:
A man died and went to Heaven. There were thousands of other people there. They were all naked and all looked as they did at the age of 21. He looked around to see if there was anyone he recognised. He saw a couple and he knew immediately that they were Adam and Eve. How did he know?

<Illuminati jumps up and does a Jacko dance all around the board, before taking a proper drag of it>
Now that's the shit :w00t:
Truth be told, that riddle was already posted earlier in this post - But a cigar's a cigar :D
Now, for those little b**tards who kept taking those answers from me hence keeping me unconcious <_<, here's my most fiendish riddle yet. I kinda felt that I shouldn't have played this card before quite frankly, no-one who I've given this to has been able to answer it before already knowing the answer - But quite frankly, the quality of the thinking needed for the riddles is getting lower IMO and you guys deserve this one
A man is walking across a bridge in Paris when he saw his wife on the other side of the bridge with her lover. The man drew a gun and shot his wife. The recoil from the gun caused him to fall off the bridge and drown.
He was tried for murder. What was the jury's verdict?
(BTW Please, this is my best so no-one who already knows the answer say the correct verdict - This is a true challenge, mainly because it involves a train of thought different from the norm.
Good luck  )

For sake of closure - She did die. The guy was over the bridge; you think he wouldn't have aimed the shot? :P
Anyway - It's irrelevant to the answer. Sorry :P
Lamsey
07-03-2003, 10:56 PM
Was it 'not guilty' because he died before she did?
Lamsey
07-03-2003, 10:59 PM
And could the trial actually have gone ahead if the suspect was dead?
Illuminati
07-03-2003, 11:01 PM
Nope - She did instantly from the bullet (those who've done advanced physics can probably contradict me there, but you know what I mean :P)
I can see what you're getting at, but if it was a case of he died before her, why would they be trialling him posthumourously in the first place? :P
I can see this becoming as annoying as "I've got a song that'll get on your nerves"

edit: or 'guilty'
or 'innocent'
Illuminati
07-04-2003, 05:40 AM
@Riddler - Come on; that ain't very fun :P
@kAb - I'll try to explain it further - Think of the two men as 'Husband' and 'Lover'. Husband walks onto the bridge, sees wife with Lover, Husband kills wife, gets thrown into water. Lover's only real purpose is to give Husband a reason to kill her.
Like I said - This need a different train of thought :D
i haven't got a scooby, this sounds like one of those ones where theres a whole story behind it which u have to figure out, so I'm gonna ask a couple of questions if u don't mind
Theres nothing special about the bridge or location is there? The guy wasn't washed into another country or resuscitated or anything weird was he?
U said the fact that she died was irrelevant to teh answer??? whose murder is he being tried for then? his own??
Does the answer involve time travel by any chance ?
Otherwise how could he be tried for murder after he had drowned ?
Riddler

Precisely. Whaddya say, Illuminati ?
Illuminati
07-04-2003, 10:33 AM
@ilw - Not really; the story's there, it's more a 'what happened next', except you've got to figure out the verdict. I think everyone's figure out that it isn't a simple case of 'Guilty'/'Not guilty' :P
Nothing special about the bridge, but there is something significant about the location - Where it is affects the answer :D Nice one - You're already on the way to getting the answer :D
He wasn't resuscitated, and you tell me where the hell he could have been washed to nearby from Paris
As for the wife, good point - Yes he's being tried for his wife's murder. The only real point she had there was being the victim in the trial - What I said was that apart from receiving a bullet, she did no significant action at the time...except dying ;)
@lynx - Nice try, wrong way of thinking  Hell if I know why he's being on trial (Above was the exact wording of it), but he was posthumously tried and we're looking for the verdict. Does any justice system think straight nowadays? :P
Keep trying guys - ilw already did one step of the way :D

Not even a cigarette :P
But it does involve something to do with France - Keep trying
He hadn't been previously tried for her murder or something had he? I think french law still has that thing about not being tried 2x for the same thing. (Is it Paris or France thats important?)
Illuminati
07-04-2003, 10:57 AM
What you're talking about is Double Jeopardy and AFAIK is implemented in practically every country in the world (at least in the West). It isn't a thing exclusive to France.
ilw - AFAIK you are currently the only one answering the right questions. This is definitely the hardest one I've ever come across so you should pat yourself on the back just for getting this far :D
Yes - The location is important, but look at the information in the puzzle; Did I mention France, or did you assume it? That should answer your question about whether it's on about France or just Paris :D
One clue - There is a case of Guilty/Not Guilty, but there's a condition tagged to it. That's all I'm saying for now
Guilty - but in seine
that deserves the cigar i think. I was thinking of the seine as well, but that never occured to me (is that how u spell it?)

I had a quick look at a map of Paris (to see if there was anything special about the bridges), the first thing I saw was the name of the river!

Well, time to get another one from the book. This one is called 'The Busy Hospital'.
St. James Hospital handled all the accident cases for the city. They were kept especially busy by the large number of drivers and passengers injured on the city's roads. To improve road safety, a law was passed making the wearing of seat belts mandatory.
Drivers and passengers now started to wear seat belts in their cars. The frequency of road accidents remained exactly the same. However, the hospital was now even busier handling road-accident victims than before.
Why?

they still handle ALL of the accident cases?

the accidents had nothing to do with the drivers or passengers, but with pedestrians?

And the cigar goes to my man, Lamsey! :D
The wearing of seat belts was successful in reducing the number of deaths from road accidents. People who without seat belts would have been killed (and taken to the morgue) now survived but with injuries. Consequently more people were treated for injuries than before.

1) You walk up to the edge of a large, deep pit with hundreds of deadly, venomous snakes at the bottom.
2) Across the pit lies a fortune in diamonds.
3) To either side of the pit, as far as the eye can see, is nothing but quicksand.

5) You have an unlimited supply of rope.
6) How do you get to the other side of the pit ?

Damn - This topic got revived over night :D
It's all British-made cigars this time - No-one gets the good Cuban stogies but me :P
But I may be willing to Riddler, if you wrap this one up and start another one. This one's getting a bit too big for my liking ;)
