Before I do this can any of you give me some advice as to the best way to do it?
I already have XP installed and don't really want to reinstall it.
I have 2 hard disks (both NTFS) but is it possible not to let Win2k to "see" or access the slave disk.
I will be using Windows 2000 for tests and don't want it to mess up the 2nd hard disk.
Thanks

you need to defrag your pc and use partitioning software like partition magic to make 2 partitions of a decent size.
now you go to a dos prompt and type
attrib -s -h -r boot.ini
you now edit your c:\boot.ini file with notepad and add the line
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
you will have to change the 1 in the partition to what ever partition you will be installing win 2k on. im assuming it will be 2.
if you get stuck try here (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safe=off&q=dual+booting+xp+and+2k) ;)
