There is still no link in the startmenu for 'badipupdater' ....

i did a good reistry clean and a reinstall and it seems to be ok now..no excessive cpu-usage and one tray icon...
And before i forget..no files left on my desktop...yay!!!

Is there a way I can change the 'my shared folder location' ?
So I don't need the folder C:\my shared folder....
and that my downloaded files will be placed into a different folder.
also:
Maybe you should delete the 'collect point from files that are marked......'

sure, use the config wizard, or manually change the registry key:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Kazaa\LocalContent\DownloadDir

Hmm. Just loaded up the latest version and it won't run on XP Pro w/ SP2.
It launches the apps and the icons go into the systray, but the actual kazaa icon vanishes, the klite icon stays, and no kazaa window is to be found anywhere in the system.
I'm wondering if it has to do with the way that SP2 is introducing overflow/overrun protection and changing the way system calls work. it really gets into your pc and re-writes a lotta sh*t...

i use it because i'm in the official beta program for microsoft. i also happen to like downloading music before shelling out 20+ bucks for cds to make sure they're not sh*t....
besides which if it doesn't work in the beta right now, how long will it take to make it work in the final if you don't test against said beta?

1-is it kazaa.exe it self
2-host file
3-somthing wrong in my computer or in my settings
4- or it is only a bug of K-Lite 2.6 RC 10b

The custom webpages use a webserver, that needs exclusive access to port 80, there is most likely a program using this or it is used as a alternate connection port for kazaa.
The links do not work, as they need klrun. I will add this in future builds, i still need to look into how it works, but will be added soon.

how can i find the program that use's the port 80,
since kazaa is not using it in my computer :helpsmile: :frusty: B)

you have to change the dimensions in the HTML code from 34x34 to 32x32... the pictures look distorted

I have this suggestion for K-Lite developers (lite,Ftfakes)
Add an option for adding or removing some tools as needed from a config menu of khancer toolbar like in the tools menu for k++ 2.4.3
And even make it more professional like kl extensions options

Let me also add my own feedback here: I installed KL 2.6, and it works fine. B) The d/l speed and the searches are definitely better than KLK++ 2.4.3, and up to now I haven't bumped onto any probs. A positive vote, then! <_<
I cannot make any comparisons with KMD Lite 2.6 as I have not tried it and I do not know how it works. All I can tell you is that compared to KLK++ 2.4.3, it's faster.

the main part is to get all the features there, that is what we are working on atm, things like this will come - but later

I got K-lite 2.6RC10b but as soon as I launch any of the tools (e.g. accelerator) it crashes and then accelerator gives me the "do you want to quit" message and after I click No it restarts k-lite but it wont connect after that :(

try just loading klr.exe instead of khancer.exe, you wont have a toolbar though, you'll have to open the tools manually or create shortcuts
I just found this program called Mediapeek (http://www.mediapeek.com). Will this Work with the new versions? I Put up a post here (http://filesharingtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=93872) asking if anyone has tried it and has any opinions about.

yes, just uninstall it, keep a back up of my shared folder (just incase), Download the file as stated in the notes, tick the "clean install KMD" option and then i will work :)

Suggestion: how about putting a help file in with the installation package that gives all (or as many as possible) error problems that have occured so far on past PCs, and the way to remedy them? You could glean off all the problems posted here, answer them, and every time a new build is issued, update the help file with new problems and solutions.
Major kudos to all involved in this...Lite, FTFakes, you guys are doing a great job.
there is a basic FAQ that i made, it can be accessed from the start menu ;)

Yeah, honetly who the hell cares. It's illegal to distribute a modified version too, but as long as we keep adding and moving and changing how we distribute they cant catch us, and to bring up an old term. "It's not illigal, till you get caught" B)

yeah, so like everybodies minor is like down. Unless they dont use myimages.fourvalve.com... But we can still get around this by using .zip files!
Thats what i did ^_^ So now all my files are zip files and youre gonna need a zip viewer to open the files on my site....

Well FTFakes, is working on adding all the features of KLE into khancer :D
but if i could get my hands on PowerBasic compiler 7 for windows, i could have a look at it, so if anyone has it/ knows where to get it from let me know - im not promsing anything great though

Great work lite, K-Lite 2.6 is definitely faster than any K++ build (I've tried them all) but I miss the KL Extensions. I hope they'll be integrated soon. Haven't tried the magnet links though. Nice package nsane, saves a big hassle :D

It was just today that I saw that K-lite is still being developed.
Good work! I was kinda sad when I heard that Sharman shut down the development.
Btw, who is updating the app nowadays? Is it still random nut?

i downloaded PR1, i installed it, but it doesn't run .. i get the following errors in succession when i click on k-lite shortuct from the start menu
(1) k-lite tiny web server error - the requested address is a broadcase error but flag is not set (this comes twice)
(2) k-lite web server error - address in use (this also comes twice)
(3) run time error '364' - object was unloaded

as far as I remember - one of the major differences between 0.57 & 0.57a is the ability to use multiple selection-actions in the traffic window , as well as reorder it so that the accelerator can prioritize downloads. those as very convenient features
I suggest to make an effort to try and use this 0.57a latest version.

but you only should compile what works in 2.6 and reorder download list doesn't word as also ASM, preview with, tools menu in main menu.. etc etc.. so you should only compile the parts that works..: accelerator, file organizer, lock and apperance, that's about it

Ok I have used your link lite and this is the solution for all lovers of K-Lite with blank start page
1-get this web server and install it abyss (http://www.aprelium.com/data/abwsx1.exe)
2-create a subfolder and name it "us" in this directory "C:\Program Files\Abyss Web Server\htdocs\"
3-unrar one of the two web folders contained in this file web (http://myimages.fourvalve.com/index/WEB.rar) (only the contents in web1 or web2) to the <span style='color:red'>us directory
4-use this as your custom start page :http://127.0.0.1:8000/us/index.htm
That is all</span> : :D B)

I also got the blank startpage with this address http://desktop.kazaa.com/us/kmdstart.htm?country=us&client=kmd&ver=260 in the address field.
And, the startpage is already in the C:\Program Files\K-Lite\web folder. Can't you just click Options>Khancer Options and click the StartPage tab, click Use Custom Startpage and add that link in the field?

hmm does this have diet k and all that crap the #klchat build had in it. crap meaning bad things
(i.e. the uninstaller that deleted ur my shared folder and pissed the crap out of me cause i was sharing 10gigs of songs).
is this just a packaged deal with no resources hacked? is the "about" hacked? are the tools acutally implemented into the program? are the regular options hacked? are the supernodes "secure"? are the extenions by rocko added? is the "kazaa web" hacked and replaced with the klite one?
can someone answer me or are u just gonna keep on sending out clean KMD with some tools packaged in there? If all those things are added officail progress will be made other wise

no, there is no dietk and all that 'crap' as you say in K-Lite. The uninstall is better and Im sorry for your shared folder that was deleted before. Mine got deleted too, but that was in the old build. Now the uninstallation is better.
And about the "hacked" parts, The extensions arent compatable but Lite is working on it. The "about" is changed and some of the tools/options is implemented into the program. There is still outside add-ons. The "kazaa web" is changed to a costumizable one. There is no spyware/adware, icons are changed, and this build is not just some clean KMD with new tools and shit. I, too, hate builds like that. This build, however, has no shit and is a pretty good version, i think. But like {I}{K}{E} said, its still a beta version! So there are plenty of options/tools that are gonna be included (KLE might be compatible later). So yeah, I think K-Lite is a great build. You dont like, dont use it. Stick with Kazaa Lite or whatever...
Also, K-Lite is legal, or atleast it is thought to be.....
All in all, test it yourself and then make jugements. The first builds sucked and just because they did doesnt mean that the newer ones do too.
Or maybe you can wait until the final versions come out...

I would like to comment on that. Because almost every tool that is included in K-Lite is based on his ideas. UCW, KLE (Khancer), K-Dat, K-Sig, supertrick, IP block updater, klrun. Without that there wouldn't be much left.
And why did it take 16 versions before the Sig2Dat protocol was added? Called my builds untested :frusty:

Just tried out K-Lite 2.6 pre1 and it seems pretty good, thanks.
However, I keep getting an error message when I click the K-Lite shortcut.
Error #6: File 'kazaa.exe' does not exist in the same folder as the program.
I didn't click 'Clean KMD' when I installed it.

Kazaa resurrection and K-lite are totally different. Kazaa Resurrection is based on Kazaa Lite which is based on KMD 2.02. K-Lite, however, is based on KMD 2.6. Go here for more infomation => http://myimages.fourvalve.com/bishtawiman/web/which_one.html

I got the PR1 release but there seems to be a problem in using it with bluetack's Blocklist Manager, it says IP filtering is not enabled (it works fine with klr) and since you have included the Bad IP updater I'm assuming IP filtering works and there are some registry keys missing.
Could anyone tell me how to make this work and does k-lite 2.6 have IP filtering capabilies?

youre right it doesnt.....but the bluetack Blocklist Manager still reads the K++ key in the registry for its export ;) .

I have another question, The traffic limit is set to 2 d/l simultaneously but the accelerator seems to ignore this, and when I try to change the limit from options it gives an error since the max search results are >200 (921, wonder who came up with this number). Where are the registry entries for this so I can change the max simultaneous d/l number and how do I stop FTA from starting more than this number (I checked skip 'Paused' and 'Queued')

I'm impressed. Aside from a few minor nuances that have already been adressed here, it was easy to install and it works great. Good job to all who worked on it. FTA will always start more than you want. there is no setting to disable that. it was always a quirk of that program. the only accelerator i ever used that actually skipped the things you didnt want started and didnt start more than you allowed it to is the built in accelerator of kl extensions. you might try ShareMonkey Speedup (http://www.sharemonkey.com/download.php) since FTA is extremely old. if you go to FTA's site, it takes you to the sharemonkey site.....so they might be the same thing with sharemonkey speedup being the newer, more updated version. not guaranteeing that it wont do the same thing though ;) .

I think since we had this long quiet non moving time I may give some ideas about the current ver that may be done in the next build or future releases
1- Adding pTrack instead of speed up
2- Removing web search tab in the search area or at least make it work using whatever search engine like google for example
3- Making khancer tools appear as menu bottom next to traffic bottom
4-editing khancer in a mode that enables adding other tools and or removing tools
5-fixing klrun registry to include FAQ link
6- Fixing help since it doesn’t work
7- adding extra tools to control downloads like resume all pause all find more recourses for all and other tips from k++2.4.3

Can someone tell me what closes it to exit the second i try to open it. This has only started to happen only when i switched to any KMD 2.6 based K-Lite, kazaa lite reserection, kazaa lite 2.4.3e , ect all work fine but clean kmd 2.6, Kazaa Lite 2.6, Khance all those seem to open then disappear from system tray every time i try it, does it on every pc in my house, even at work. All are using Windows XP Corp Incl SP1 and one of them is using SP2 BETA, Never have gotten it to even open. What's going on? what am i missing?

first :uninstall all other versions of kazaa using this kclenup (http://k-lite.fasttrackhelp.com/download/kcleanup.exe)
second install the pakage
therd put kazaa.exe and magne.exe in the installaion folder
that is it B)

I didn't expect it to work 100%; I just asked to see if someone managed to make it run.
BTW, the problem doesn't seem to be K-Lite at all; Kazaa standard won't run either.
Did you tweak anything special to make it work?

If it was a PR i would have called it a PR ;)
Its a RC and the next few releases will be as there should be newer features coming - but these will cause newer bugs :lol: , so dont expect a final for atleast a few week

the pr1 was an axpected one but lite said the final one will be ready after adding the missing features and solving the bugs

when k-lite is open and you open the ft accelerator from the tool menu (making k-lite min to right hand corner).
When u click on k-lite icon to re-open it, nothing happens, ie k-lite doesnt reopen and u have to close it down to open it back up

Same problem here. Tray icon appears, but when the mouse moves over it, it disappears! :o WinXP SP2 Beta1.

try right click over k-lite icon and see the options ;) B)

has anyone mentioned isues with sources? sorry but this thread is 30 pages long so i'd rather not sort through it. but i notice for a popular and well shared file like the 3 episode dune series i can only get 3 or 4 sources. is it just me?

i usually just start the download, find more sources, jump supernode, find more sources over and over 5-10 times
come to think of it, that would make a good option for the built in accelerator when its finished :)

I've got the RC12 now, and the FTA problem is still there, so many downloads are killing my effective bandwidth, put this on the top of your priority list, whatever accelerator you include has to obey the traffic limit on simultaneous d/l.
I also noticed that the blocklist manager's IANA reserved list includes IP's for internal use, if they are included in the BannedIPs.txt file then K-Lite wont connect to a Proxy in that range, I dont think connections to the proxy should be filtered.

Ive just downloaded the latest version of this programme, and I have been pleasantly surprised. The last one I tried I couldnt get the web page to work, or the tool bar. This programme now has a good web page which is stable, with a load of good links-that work!, and I have yet to find something to criticise. Search results are good, and all tools seem to be operational. First class work-thanks from a grateful user

I don't know what way you 7-zipped the installation package, K-Lite team, but now it appears I can't customise the icon with ResHacker anymore. It just seems to corrupt the exe - quite peculiar as previous exes which were similarly built still worked 100% after I changed the icon.

I can reshack the icons of the installer very easily and it does work, i dont know what your doing wrong :blink:

I already used ptrack, it has an irritating habit of displaying kazaa on the taskbar (when it should be on the system tray) everytime it accelerates a download and does not have the configuration options of FTA (like time between items and cycles).

Peculiar..... NOW it works - with RC12 though. Previous versions like PR1 and RC10b didn't take my icon change very comfortably, and refused to run afterwards. :blink:

Yup, it's pretty evident that something changed in terms of compilation between PR1 and RC12. It is not possible to get a working PR1 installation file after changing the icon yet the RC12 file operates 100% after you do the same thing.

I think it would have had something to do with the 7-zip compressing as well, Lite. The default icon you get on the files is a creation of 7-zip's, the bigger Inno Setup installation file inside of it has a different icon which is hardcoded so that it cannot be changed without breaking the whole thing.
In the past, many 7-zip compressed installation files from this forum had no conflicts with ResHack's icon changing, in particular the old Codec Packs and the compressed Kazaa Lite K++ 2.4.3 exe. But I seem to recall none of the #KLChat builds allowed clean icon changing for some reason. I'm kinda sure this had something to do with 7-Zip and less Inno Setup, but I can't quite work it out...

Why can't i get this version to connect? I have the kazaa incoming port set to 5536, it is open and forwarded and yet my router still logs the following errors... This is the first time i've tried anything above 2.4.3 so some help would be appreciated!!!

After installing Rc12 sites such as download.com became distorted probably because of the hosts. In the next rc can you add an option for supertrick and then another one for the actual k-lite program? thanks

rafi_d - when i updated my installer i noticed the working kazaa.exe is around 100 bytes bigger than the faulty one, dont remember exact sizes though :(

... and I don't see any immediate-major FUNCTIONAL problems (Win 98).
Usually when I left the KHancer (1.0.17) MT-ASM searching overnight - it did not survive the night ... So I'll try again tonight ;) and KZN tomorrow night (it was also crashing the PC...)
Still - FTA accelarator seems not to work with rc12 ... :( and it still minimizes K-Lite when being activated. strange - but looks like it DOES immediately deletes canceled uploads/downloads , w/o waiting the cycle time :huh:

ASM problems are posted in the dev forum. So, just one reminder - the ASM seems not to be checking the "connecting..."/"disconneted" state to disable itself, and loops/overloads Kazza.

I open k-lite 2.6,click on a sig2dat link.There is nothing new in traffic.I open my shared folder and there i have a new .dat file.I close k-lite.I open k-lite again and now i have the file in traffic downloading.

ok open k-sig then go to file>settings> make sure that the second option is selected (send quicklinks directly to kazza)
that will solve your problem B) :D

That option is selected by default so that is not the problem.Ill try reinstalling kazaa and if it doesnt work ill just go back to 2.4.3.Thanx anyway

it replaces the hosts file and i was wondering, dont other programs use this? If so, wont this effect my 0ther programs, perticulary add block programs, cookie blockers etc etc. :blink:

That is indeed not the correct way to apply the supertrick.
It should edit the hosts file, not replace it. But only few builds actually do that.

Saw you were looking for a good mp3 anti-corruption thingy... found this little app: http://www.mp3shield.com works gr8, no memory leaks, and can detect mp3 downloads in real time, no configuration required. it is also published under the creative commons, so ppl can redistribute it... cheers ;)

Error403, RC12, had the option to clear the HOSTS, but did still edit the HOSTS like in previous builds
isamma, i use a custom HOSTS file ;)
Edit:
jjozy, i have heard that program doesnt work propaly (and i havent had time to test it)
