View Full Version : Get An Error Emssages While Running Win Update
im using xp pro with a key I got off the net, I needed this key to install sp1 (funny it installed sp1 and now it wont let me update :D) anywhere I can still download updates but I cant see all the updates, if there another way to download the updates without the win updater?
You can download critical updates here (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/)
Or order a free (http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/cd/order.asp) cd :)
what about the normal updates?
You mean the additional bloatware?

you say it worked once, what did you get then and what do you get now, is your system date and time correct, sometimes that cause it not to go to the page and get updates.
I dont know I restarted it worked, installed some updates and they wanted a restart so I did now it dont work, yes my time and date are correct and it says it cant validate my cd key yet I downloaded sp1 with it

Alright then, how soon do you need these updates?
if it's not a deathly emergency, order the cd for free here (http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/cd/order.asp)
only 2-4 weeks shipping time, and not even any shipping charges or anything, depending on where you live

follow the steps by microsoft FROM HERE (http://s90860044.onlinehome.us/ChangingXPProfessionalCorporateProductKey.doc)
I have already changed my cd key about 6 times and I doubt the valid keys it lists are skill valid, all invalid.
so I assume I need a valide CD key then

just curious but: why da **** you want them??? they dont really do anything usefull (except if you think hogging space on your HDD and slowing your comp down is usefull..........)
get: SP1 and the major security hole fixes and your g2g...........
---------------
it might be possible that you turned of the updates in services.msc or something like that (or have a great AV that sees microsoft stuf as a virus  )
are you sure you have a correctly working version of XP???? and if your key is blacklisted, you prolly couldnt even download the updates...........
else get the XP from the verified section (works great!!!)

I have already told them where to get a free cd from above :)
@Bebi -- try updating this way. http://www.chinkii.com/uploads/album/misc/...ewindows645.JPG (http://www.chinkii.com/uploads/album/misc/updatewindows645.JPG)
Although I do not use that method, it might work if updating from the web fails. :)
