How do you view the screenshots? They come up in a .tga format, and won&#39;t open.......reworded it to .jpg, but that didn&#39;t help either. I&#39;m pretty sure this has been answered before, but I&#39;m too lazy to look back through the 35 pages :P

What works best for you? Bumpmapping makes the game look beautiful, but also eats up those precious FPS. Killing AA helps get some of them back, I&#39;m just hoping I won&#39;t run into much places where AA is needed.

I have it at High, at 800x600, with everything but AA on, and it works REASONABLY well, as FPS jumps from like 50 to like 20 every .005 seconds. Playable though...

I use 1024x768 with medium settings runs pretty well for me. I might chnge resolution down and add specular lighting or maybe go to high setting and see how that runs.

Many people like FRAPS. You can take short clips with it if you want but it will kill your FPS. It also shows in the top-right corner the number of FPS you are getting.

i got a 2.4GHz P4 1024MB RAM and a 9600XT at stock speeds and im running it with all but the top feature on at and settings at Medium at 1024x768 runs pretty good i do get slow downs everynow and then but hardly any when in a fire fight. the game is beautiful deffinitly the best FPS EVER.

hey, can anyone explain why evreytime i play doom 3 it pauses, then goes white and then an error comes up about ati?i have radeon 9600 series and have the latest drivers, but it plays grand, its only them movie clips that make it stop.

anyone any ideas? :(

You&#39;ll prob have to turn down the settings.

You can but only on cracked servers. You wont be able to see any games when you go to the multi-player option, you will need the ip address of the person(s) you want to play with. If you want to still play online heres how:

Do what it says in my last post.
Start up Doom 3
Go to MP
Type in IP address of the person hosting the game
Wait for it to connect

In your DOOM 3 directory, find "DoomConfig.cfg" (Doom 3&#092;base). Open DoomConfig.cfg in Notepad or Wordpad or watever you use.

Find the line: (use the find function, much much faster)

seta image_cacheMegs "X" (X is either 32 or 20, depends on what machine you have)

I changed mine from 32 to 256. FPS went through the roof&#33; I was gettin 40 max, and now it&#39;s 60 constantly (avg). I upped it to "512" and that&#39;s when i noticed it go to 62 FPS, and i&#39;m sure it can go higher if i knew how to uncap it. replace "32" or "20" to half of your total ram for best results but remember, "experiment" cuz wat works for me might not necesserally work for as good for you. more tweaks to come.

I think its because it makes very little difference to the graphics, but the FPS drop a bit.

Just played the first half an hour of Doom 3. To cut things short: I am scared shitless&#33;&#33; I was sitting in the dark and playing with headphones...which explains a lot. Anyway, here&#39;s my rating after playing 30 mins:

Graphics: Kick ass&#33;&#33; I play on 640x... and with everything on low (laptop) and it still looks good.

Atmosphere: I wish my mami would hold my hand right now, and I&#39;m 22&#33;&#33;&#33; &#39;Nough said...

Story: Must survive and hunt eavil scary monsters....or whatever&#33; Who cares about the story anyways?

Overall: 94/100 (add 3 if stoned)

Doom 3 rules:

1. Never, i repeat, NEVER forget your flashlight&#33;

2. Watch your back (and front, and sides, and above), those lovely creatures come from everywhere.

3. Play with all lights shut off&#33; Smoke a big fat blunt (or not if you&#39;re non-smoker)...

4. Quit your job, you won&#39;t have time for it anymore... :D

hey, i dotn know if this question was asked already (its 35 pages to read...). but I got doom 3, and when i use the no cd crack the console loads up and then gets stuck.. it says something about opengl and that it cant find default.cfg. i have a radeon 9800 pro, and i have the latest drivers, so i dotn think its the card. can anyone please help me out?

ya, u should be able to run it, like i said "experiment" like theres no tomorrow, i ended up getting a 105% FPS gain from that cachemegs tweak and another im currently playing around with. if anyone is interested just PM me and i&#39;ll gladly send the new tweak ur way (btw, the new tweak no allows me to basically keep it at 60-62 fps throughout the game, no matter how many enemies or detail, works like a charm, maybe i can get a job at iD :lol: )

like i said, change the vars around until u find the "perfect" setting, but sometimes it doesn&#39;t work as you can see for yourself if you head over to planetdoom forums. the "other tweak" you can try and see for yourself, it sure did do some miracles on my crappy comp:

note note note warning note&#33;&#33; these are Image Settings for 128mb Video Cards note, if you have 64mb card, replace 512 with 256 or a lower number, i&#39;m not sure wat the number is for 64mb cards, but experiment damn u&#33; also note where it says width and height, change to watever u want but make sure it&#39;s "selectable" in doom3 as in dont give random numbers, take "prefixed" ones like 640x480 or 800x600 etc etc

no, execing performance.cfg (or watever the file name is) IS the confirmation, so wat i was trying to say is if u get any other prompt either then the "execing performance.cfg" then its an error, but execing performance.cfg is wat ur looking for, i suggest u also type vid_restart after you get the prompt execing performance.cfg for better FPS.

I dl doom 3 reloaded using bt, no problems, unzipped cd1 2 and 3 no problems, then pc found virus in the key gen&#33;. So then burnt cds using nero, now none of the 3 cds work, nothing happens at all. Help

my computer is crap. but i still enjoy the game. i have it on low quality, 640X480, bumpmapping is on, and so is specular....

and i get 20-60 FPS

We just tryed a game, i opend up port 2766, i also got my IP from that site, me and a mate could not conect, is there something im missing? perhaps a program we can conect thrugh, i have the Sever crack same as friend, but... WTF it should be easy but its not, please give me details on how to do this, perhaps MSN or something conect, OR? Shit, the minumum requirements is 384mb of ram and I only have 256. Does this mean I wont even be able to get the game to run?

ya, u should be able to run it, like i said "experiment" like theres no tomorrow, i ended up getting a 105% FPS gain from that cachemegs tweak and another im currently playing around with. if anyone is interested just PM me and i&#39;ll gladly send the new tweak ur way (btw, the new tweak no allows me to basically keep it at 60-62 fps throughout the game, no matter how many enemies or detail, works like a charm, maybe i can get a job at iD :lol: )

like i said, change the vars around until u find the "perfect" setting, but sometimes it doesn&#39;t work as you can see for yourself if you head over to planetdoom forums. the "other tweak" you can try and see for yourself, it sure did do some miracles on my crappy comp:

note note note warning note&#33;&#33; these are Image Settings for 128mb Video Cards note, if you have 64mb card, replace 512 with 256 or a lower number, i&#39;m not sure wat the number is for 64mb cards, but experiment damn u&#33; also note where it says width and height, change to watever u want but make sure it&#39;s "selectable" in doom3 as in dont give random numbers, take "prefixed" ones like 640x480 or 800x600 etc etc

idk wtf any of those things actually do. but my average FPS increased by 10fps and the graphics quality looks better. plus the game is brighter now to. thanks so much for that cfg . i have 1 proble with it tho. why did u turn autoreload off? i had to turn it back on.

meh, im stuck again, i cant kill this one boss, hes quite huge, runs around on all fours, he has these things that actually were helping me (they provide light and were following me) floating around him....the first time, he was chasing me around, then he stopped and just stood there so i unloaded all of my bullets on him. he just didnt die, so i figured it was a glitch, and restarted, and well i still unload all of my bullets on him and he still doesnt die.

yea, i just got there too. ur screen goes blurry and zombies attack u. ur supposed to switch to fists and 1 punch kills them. it was pretty fun&#33; heres a few screens i made:

I&#39;m looking for the control room I believe. There is a lift that can take me to sections 1 (loading), 2 (????), 3 (exit/unload). The door in section 3 is locked by controls somewhere in security section 1. But I can&#39;t find where to unlock it. I&#39;ve pretty sure I&#39;ve been everywhere at least 20 times. Section 1 is small and I always end up in section 2 or 3. Or are there any walthroughs out yet? I found one that ended a couple levels before this.

I play for like 5 mins then it always says there was an error and like the game stops responding...its pissin me off lol

Also, I set the brightness almost all the way up...im guessing yall do too..? Neway, when i close out Doom III my desktop is still BRIGHT AS HELL haha i duno its wierd. When I dont adjust the brightness, it makes it dull, untill i restart my computer.

Also, do the tips to make it quicker work? I mean mine works perfectly fine so far as far as performance...im just wondering.

K, I did the performance.cfg thing and it worked good. this is gay though....the game just goes to a black screen at different times and says it caused an error or the screen gets all choppy and shit. I put everything back to stop speeds and it still wouldnt work...its pissin me off.

I did the performance.cfg thing and it worked good. this is gay though....the game just goes to a black screen at different times and says it caused an error or the screen gets all choppy and shit. I put everything back to stop speeds and it still wouldnt work...its pissin me off.

just install new drivers for your video card, if its a raedeon get it from www.ati.com

hmmm...I played it for like TEN MINS straight&#33;&#33; yay&#33; usually its like 45 seconds haha. But then it shut off. I dont know why the hell it keeps doing this. My GPU is at stock speeds and i have 4 case fans and good airflow and stuff, so I dont think it is overheating, but thats what i am starting to think. It just goes black then like a windows error thing comes up, its not an error doomIII is sending out. Then I have to ctrl alt delete and shut it off. I love the game though it is AWESOME, I just wish it would work good..

you have to manually drive the lift thing (i think i know where you are) there should be 4 arrows on the lift , one to go forward, backward, turn left and right. then theres a thing to make the lift go up and back down, you have to make the lift go up, and then you jump onto a bridge. its the only bridge theres, thats above you.

I got the doom 3 game off of suprnova. Me and my friend installed it on his computer to see what it was like, but it would still skip even on the lowest settings. He has a 999mhz processor, a nvidea g-force mx420 64mb graphics card, and 896mb. I installed the same game on my computer. I have a 1.8 ghz pentium 4, a nvidea g-force fx 128mb graphics card and 640 mb of ram, and it still skips the same as on his. I was wondering if maybe it could be something wrong with the game and maybe i need some kind of patch or something. does anyone know if something could be wrong or is it just my computer . i am up a little ways over the minimum system requirements. i just dont see what could be wrong.

it&#39;s not the game, it runs pretty much flawlessly on my craptacular computer at 60fps avg, iD did a magnificant job optimizing the hell out of this game. it&#39;s either ur cooling or windows error (ctrl alt delete, and see wat the cpu usage % is when idle and when running doom3, if it&#39;s at 80+% during idle wit no programs running, u got ur self a svchost.exe problem)

each mod comes in a rar file which contains a txt file telling you where to put the mod file, as far as I can tell you need to pick the ones you want e.g you can&#39;t have the flashlight mods for both the machine gun and ythe pistool at the same time as, well in my case, they are the same file name. :)

Each one has its own read-me file. However its just extract each mod into the Doom 3 main dir and go to mods yeah.

My Geforce 4 MX 128mb use to get major lag all through the game, any where part from a thin hallway iwould get lag but with the image cache tweak i only get lag in big battles. Im running on 640*480 Lowest settings.

@Cheese - I take it your running it on the 9800 Pro you brought, how si that card? Finbnaly have enough and Doom III is the real test for a higher end card like that (Well pritty high end)?

The Image cahche trick nearly doubled my FPS and now i hardly get any lag where as it was nearly impossible to play befor.

go into doom3/base folder, look for pak000.pk4, open that up wit winrar, now look for a subfolder named glprogs, go into it, look for the file name interaction.vfp now wat u gotta do is edit it, i suggest u extract to somewhere, edit it, and then add the new edited file back into pk4 file u opened wit winrar overwriting the old one wit the newly edited one, here&#39;s how:

1) open the interaction.vfp with notepad or wordpad
2) scroll down and find

PARAM subOne = { -1, -1, -1, -1 };
PARAM scaleTwo = { 2, 2, 2, 2 };
3) now rite below it add the line:

PARAM specExp = { 16, 0, 0, 0 };
4) it should like this:

Does this do the same thing as unpacking the pk4 entirely?

You know, stopping D3 to work in mp, &#39;cos apparently unpacking the .pk4 does, according to the FAQ.

the code is 931 (i think the name is abrams, the code was originally 901 but then "security" updated it to 931 because codes cannot have the number 0 in em :blink: )

:blink: that tweak was created too basically optimize doom3 further by turning off the little nice things like specular and shadows and stuff giving u a huge fps boost, but i changed mine so all the special effects stayed on and such, and i still got an fps boost. it certainly shouldn&#39;t lower ur fps especially if the tweak is the way it was meant to be (no specular no shadows no little nifty goodies) :huh:

i could use all the fps

im currently playing at 800x600@medium settings with no lag... average fps is around 40 ;) but when i see a monster it goes down to 30 and sometimes even lower...

i have a MSI Fx5600 ;)
