Currently using utorrent. Azureus was giving me problems with connectability. I find utorrent to be easier to use and much faster.

Azureus; people say that it's a memory whore, but I don't even notice.

utorrent was the first i tried, but it always has up and down at the max. If I go to dslspeedreports to find out my actual max up and down, as long as the torrent is available, utorrent will match my speed report results exactly.
In other words why would i try anything else when i am at my max w/ utorrent :)

uTorrent without any doubt........

What he said. uTorrent is, hands down, THE best client. Some sites (mainly private trackers) are actively disabling users and in some cases banning them if they use anything but uTorrent or the original bit torrent client. Unless you're a cheater (using shitty clients to cheat for insane ratios) or a complete retard, you should be using uTorrent.

pimiske
07-26-2006, 02:18 AM
there is no best client, there should be best tracker.
At the end all appz do same work for you.

I have been using Azureus as well. I was using utorrent for a while, not sure why I quit using it.

The only thing I wish Azureus could do is have the ability to refresh the screen every once in a while. (Like if you sort by share ratio, or DL speed) Maybe I am missing something? If anyone knows please let me know. I will be your bestest friend forever.

I've tried ABC, BitComet and µtorrent.

µtorrent is without a doubt the best one that works for me.

projectX
08-03-2006, 06:23 PM
Yeah I'd say µtorrent. I've tried all of them and it worked best for me. But there's one thing I don't like about µtorrent : It always gives me that ''Disk overloaded ..%'' error when downloading at 4-10mb/s with my root-server. When that happens, the speed drops to 100kb/s and then slowly goes back up but a lot of time goes lost this way.

But still, µtorrent kicks ass ! :D

I think if this thread was closed, and a new poll was started, utorrent might be taking the lead. this thread was started in feb. 2005, long before utorrent was around, and includes a year and a half of voting. not really a current, or accurate picture of client usage.

I would predict the results to look like this: utorrent, azureus, bitcomet

utorrent has been the one for me since i got sick and tired of azureus hogging all the system resources. also it always has some strange bugs in every version. utorrent on the other hand has the smallest memory footprint, and the most advanced functions. New stuff in the latest version is excellent: Onthefly categories (very good interface programming) and more. I also love the timecontrol feature, u can set upload and download limits for every single hour of the day (for ex. if you are on a work computer! or full speed at night!)

No turning back from utorrent.com for me :) :)

I have tried many torrent clients, but settled for Azureus, mainly because at the time i discovered it, it was the only one that had the partial download option implemented right. So it kinda grew on me + it looks nice.

I was a big fan of BitComet, but then joined some trackers that would not allow me to use it. Made the switch to Azureus, which is what I use now. Seems to be OK, but am looking into making the switch to Utorrent, as I would definately like to try something that is less CPU intensive.

how can a client download faster than others ??? :p does any client come with a new connection or something ? the only differences between clients are: 1. memory usage 2. cpu usage (ths are very important and become crytical when you download and seed lot's of torrents) 3. extra functions or plugins (not so important in my opinion) 4. trackers where the client is banned

considering those i am using azureus right now, but i could switch to utorrent very easy. both azureus and u are very stable and use a decent ammount of memory and the last versions are not banned on any tracekr (on any trackers that's important at least)

parking_jedi

started with tornado, moved to ABC - ditched it because it was too slow, changed to Azureus but it kept crashing after about a year of solid service, changed to utorrent and now that does the job. I do like the extras that come with azureus.
Most private trackers i use have banned most things azureus and utorrent are pretty much all universally accepted.
