• Mirror's Edge 2 reportedly uses the Frostbite 2 engine

Brief spot of news on the Mirror's Edge 2 front. (Yeah, it's still on the way, apparently.) According to Official PlayStation Magazine, via CVG, "The Frostbite 2 engine will pave the way for Mirror's Edge to make a free-running return." At least, that's what the rumors are saying.

If accurate, this shouldn't come as much of a surprise, given how integral the aesthetic design of Mirror's Edge was to the experience, and how delightfully impressive this engine is.

Truth be told, I'd be more worried about non-linear gameplay being nailed down in a sequel than the visuals. Will it even be more open-ended? We don't know yet. But it better.

Talking about engines and videogames is like talking about sports and solely concentrating on the salaries or (apologies to mjmacky) talking about movies and focusing on the encodes.Possible but stupid.

I loved the first one, though at times it looked too graphically simplistic. FB2 is powering BF3 and looks stunning, so they can only be right applying the engine to other games.

yeh it is simplistic, but it still looks amazing. looks better than most games released today.

But like the article mentions, I would rather have the sequel before more open(meaning more fun) than being prettier than the first.

Mirror's edge was awesome! I hope the sequel also comes up to the expectations.
