• Free Windows 7 by Supporting Windows Project Phoenix

Want a chance at winning free copies of Windows 7 and Office 2010 from Microsoft? Than you’d better show Windows Project Phoenix some love.
Microsoft has kicked off the fifth installment of the Windows Recession Sweepstakes, dubbed Flying Day.

This round of the Windows Recession Sweepstakes is dedicated to an absolutely surprising Microsoft project, one involving flying and Windows with absolutely no connection to the performance of the operating system.

Windows Project Phoenix is actually a homemade airplane put together by 7 members of the Windows team that will make its debut in the Red Bull Flugtag.

“On August 21, 2010, in Long Beach, CA, marketing manager Ali Driesman will pilot the Windows Phoenix (our 75-pound flying machine) in Red Bull Flugtag,” revealed Microsoft’s Ashley Brown.

“Red Bull Flugtag, which takes place this year in Long Beach, Miami, Minneapolis-St. Paul and Philadelphia, is an event where everyday people can try and emulate Leonardo da Vinci and design a flying machine. Craft are judged not only the distance flown, but creativity and showmanship as well,” Brown added.

Microsoft is requiring users to support their Red Bull Flugtag adventure by following the Phoenix on Facebook.

Another way is via “Round #5 of the Windows Recession Sweepstakes(…)! Leave us a comment in the next 24 hours and tell us what you think about the Phoenix,” Brown said.

It’s very important for you to understand that in order to get a chance at the sweet prizes that Microsoft has lined up, you will need to leave a comment to this post on the Windows team blog.

Microsoft will offer no less than “Ten (10) Grand Prizes. A Prize Package consisting of the following items: one (1) copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. Approximate Retail Value (ARV) $319.99; one (1) copy of Office Home & Student. Approximate Retail Value (ARV) $149.99; one (1) 16 GB Zune HD Digital Media Player. Approximate Retail Value (ARV) $199.99. The total Approximate Retail Value (ARV) of this Package is $669.97.”

Bear in mind that the Microsoft Windows Blog Recession Sweepstakes are only opened to residents of the United States.

“The real star of the show is our flying machine, the Phoenix. I have to say that it’s a pretty impressive sight to behold when you see it completely assembled, and it’s lightness is truly amazing – the whole contraption weighs less than 75lbs, which is a whopping 375lbs under the legal weight limit,” revealed Microsoft’s Ben Rudolph.
