Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Is Ubisoft's Fastest Selling Game Ever

Ubisoft has just revealed that the recent Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is its fastest selling game ever released, managing to take the whole Assassin's Creed franchise over the 20 million units sold mark.

According to Ubisoft's sales and marketing boss for the European, Middle Eastern and African territories, Geoffroy Sardin, this is a testimony to the fact that Brotherhood is a full-pledged sequel, not just a quick and half-done follow-up to last year's Assassin's Creed 2.

"At first retailers were unsure - they didn't realize it was a full sequel, not just 'AC2.5'.

"But slowly through PR and discussions with them we have proven this is a new Assassin's Creed and a completely sequel, not just an add-on. The sales bear that out now, and retailers tell us they are very confident in it."

Many people believed that because it would continue the story of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, from the second game, Brotherhood would just be an excuse to add a multiplayer mode to the series, and cash it in with existing fans.

Instead, according to previous Ubisoft statements, Brotherhood managed to get lots of new people into the franchise, as well as satisfy fans that wanted to try their hands at virtual assassinations against their friends through the multiplayer mode.

Besides the online mode, Brotherhood also adds a lengthy single-player story where you can enlist the help of other assassins and find out more details about the complicated plot with both Ezio and Desmond.

Ubisoft will follow up on the success of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood with another game, which will most likely appear next year, according to both Sardin and the boss of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot.

A recent survey showed some details about this future game, so expect lots of new features to appear in the next Assassin's Creed game.
