• Amazon Brings Kindle to Windows Phone 7, Plans Tablet Version Too

Amazon's Kindle has become increasingly popular among end-users, offering them fast access to the large number of books the company has in the Kindle Store, especially since Kindle applications are already available for a series of devices out there, including mobile phones powered by Android, BlackBery, iOS and, since recently, Windows Phone 7.

Moreover, it appears that Amazon does not plan on stopping here, and that it aims at making the Kindle application available for other devices as well, including tablet PCs that run under Android or Windows.

Since these devices sport larger screens than mobile phones, Amazon felt that an application that would fit them better was needed, and announced plans to release such a version in the near future. We should note that Amazon also announced a Kindle app for the new BlackBerry PlayBook tablet from RIM.

The same as with the already released versions of the Kindle application, the upcoming software will be available for free for users, Amazon announced.

The same applies to the Windows Phone 7 version of the Amazon Kindle app, which was already included in the Windows Phone Marketplace, and which offers users the possibility to take their Kindle books with them wherever they go.

One of the most appealing features of the new app is the fact that it syncs with Kindle and Kindle apps, so that users would be able to continue reading on any device supported (PC, Mac, Android phone, iPad and more).

The features list of the new application includes:

    - Read over 775,000 books in the Kindle Store, including new releases and 108 of this week's 111 New York Times Bestsellers
    - Amazon's Whispersync technology syncs your place across devices, so you can pick up where you left off
    - Integrated shopping experience that allows customers to shop without leaving the app
    - Send an e-mail to a friend with a link to the book you're reading or to any book in your library without leaving the app
    - Customized reading - choose from five different font sizes and three background colors
    - Tap on either side of the screen or flick to turn pages

Additional info on the application, as well as on the other Kindle software Amazon offers, can be found on the company's website here.
