A screen-shot of Thief 4 has leaked to the web, fuelling speculation as to the extent that the upcoming Square-Enix game will honour the legacy of the acclaimed stealth action franchise.
Published at the Francophone gaming news site Jeuxvideo.fr, the image appears to have been clandestinely photographed during a play-test at Eidos Montreal.
The screen shows a player controlling his avatar from a third-person perspective, slinking through the gas-lit streets of an intricately-detailed urban steam-punk setting.
While the leaked screen already has some fans theorising that Square-Enix has 'dumbed-down' the series, Thief fans won't be kept in the dark much longer – Eidos will reportedly be showcasing Thief 4 at the Game Developers Conference, which kicks off in San Francisco on Monday.
