In High Court proceedings between the MPA and ISP BT this week, the MPA made their position clear. The Hollywood group wants Usenet indexing site Newzbin2 blocked at the ISP level, but BT think that’s a step too far.

In the copyright case brought against Usenet provider in the United States by Perfect 10, Judge Marilyn L. Huff of California's US District Court granted Giganews' request for an extension to review the case against them. Usenet newsgroups providers have long enjoyed safe harbor thanks to the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act), as do all ISPs in the United States. Will this lawsuit rock the foundations of the DMCA, or will Giganews emerge victorious?

After having there share of copyright woes, action against downloaders, imposing account limits and loosing users, Rapidshare is doing another effort to win back its lost audience by announcing that they have removed all restrictions which applied to its subscribers until now. The change also affects unregistered users, so basically there is no upload & download limit on Rapidshare, nor is the storage space and upload file size restricted.
