This will allow you to 'move' your cdrom drives to allow your hd's to run in chronological order. As you have a new hard drive this won't present any problems.
But making several partitions to a single HDD can cause lack of speed, it is best to actually have several physical HDDs, they a'int expensive anymore, I saw a 20GB for £20 :w00t:.
Much cheaper than they used to be eh? ;)
It might be worth mentioning that when you add a hard drive, your CD drive's letter will definitely change. This could be a problem if you make changes that require you to insert the Windows CD for the changes - the updating program may go looking for the CD drive in the wrong place. It's easily fixed by manually changing the drive letter, but at first you might wonder what's going on.
Having two physical hard drives, each partitioned, gets interesting. Your first partition on your first HD will be C:, of course. D: will be your first partition on the second HD. E: will be the second partition on the first HD with other partitions on that first drive following. Say you have four partitions on the first HD, they will be C:, E:, F:, G:. On the second drive, if you have two partitions, they will be D: and H:. So if you should add a second drive with two partitions, your CD drive will get bumped two letters, from G: (when you had one HD with four partitions) to I:.
Also, changing the number of partitions on the first drive will change the letter of the second partition on the second drive as well as the letter of the CD drive.
