firewalls cannot block these messages from the Messenger Service
Again, wondering what settings you were using to come to that conclusion?
It's delivered to your computer over the net which your firewall filters
(if it's been set up to properly filter)
If the messenger service can sneak through, then, potentially hundreds of other windows exploits could be getting past it.
You've either not configured properly or you've clicked allow when you should have clicked block.
What do I know? I run a windows 2000 server and used to rely on the messenger service for system alerts. I had to relax the firewall to get my notifications.
With the service being so exploited, I now have to use email and manual checks.
Not a real big problem since nothing gets in any way with the better firewall!
