Followed it, and expanded the main partition. Now "Computer" displays "213 GB free of 232 GB".

No, this is what it displayed before:

so technically it's a 20gb increase.
Good, 232 GBs is where it should be after a normal partition.
Mine (a 250 GB) is the same under XP.
Yea the OS will use about 4-5 percent of your hdd space for hidden files if your running XP, I had the same problem and i got most of my space back using Partition Magic 8.5 without having to reformat anything Anyways good luck!
What are these "hidden files" you're talking about?
