which version of vlc are you using? i downloaded the latest one and it seems to have bugs in it as when i tried to put a whole load of movies into the software it seemed to crash on me?

I'd like to point out that Xbox Media Center homebrew software for the Xbox has user controllable scaling.

I find it very useful when I'm watching Dvd's since my tv naturally cuts off parts of the picture (since it's an old SD tv) and I can tell XBMC to just scale the picture back to where ever I want it to be.
