Changing the registry entry will only affect windows, i thought this was what you were asking. It will not change the details you registered with Micro$oft.
Registration and activation are not related, you'll be fine. When it comes to next reinstalling Windows, then you can register your own name. For the meantime, i wouldn't worry about it.

I think the guy has received something like 50 emails from people complaining about his long name. He's said he's going to register with another name.
