Older things: K-Lite.
Newer things: Hard to tell. Bittorrent, e-Mule...or K-Lite with a hash and lot of patience to get a source.
I run Shareaza (which includes support for eDonkey, BitTorrent, and Gnutella), and I can say that Kazaa is DEFINATELY faster than ed2k and Gnutella, and it is (in my experience) about the same speed as BitTorrent. However, ed2k has a LOT more rare files than Kazaa, Gnutella, or BT.
Fasttrack could survive if we could develop a new client that supports it so we can get rid of fake files, secure it from the RIAA, and put in some kind of ratio system to keep people from leeching.
Cerulean was able to make Trillian connect to AIM, MSN, ICQ, and Yahoo without ever looking at their source codes. I wonder why no one can make a new FastTrack client that does that, especially since it's so similar to the HTTP protocol.
From my understanding trillian just emulates those chat programs to connect but what your talking about when it comes Fasttrack requires an overhaul of the whole network, changing protocols and the like which of course requires the source code.Quote:

I dont fancy a ratio system as it affects newbs,requires you to be logged on 24 hours a day basicly it would be to much like emule, a system more like bittorent is the go which of course is already in shareaza with trackerless bittorent which uses the g2 hubs as trackers.
