I dont really want a perm solution. Cause im not sure this heatsink will do its job.

What about applying a very thin layer of thermal paste, then some super glue. Or leave out the thermal paste. I cant really go out and but anything right now. It is 4:30 in the morning and need a fast fix.

I would prob go with VBs Idea.

I remember I was trying to get put ASIII on my 9700Pro and couldnt get the damn heatsink off....if would budge, nooo way. So i put it back in and it was broke haha but i got a new one.

I finally just decided to do it.

I put a very think layer of thermal paste on it. Then I put some super glue on it. And it seems to be stuck nicely. The damn thing takes up an extra pci spot now. Had to move one of my fans down a spot.

Probably too late now, but this would have been a better way to do it.

The holes were already present in the board, I assume the existing mounting had the springs, all you needed to do was supply 4 self-tapping screws, and drill 4 small holes in the heatsink.

Sooner or later ( my bet would be sooner...) you discover that "fast fixes" implemented at 5 am are NOT the way to do things.
