heatsink for Athlon 2500+ Mobile?

really? you can get it from new egg? its been sold out for weeks there..

I heard a rumour that the SP97 is out of production at the moment.

Anyway, it's recommendation is Barton 2800+ and up. Personally I'd want something better than that.

There's not a whole lot out there for air cooling that can outperform an SP-97 matched with say a Tornado or Delta fan. I'm not saying that the SP-97 is the best, as you can say that about no heatsink. But it is definatly in the top few.
Of coarse you do sacrifice your hearing ;)

Oh and I also heard of the SP97 being out of production. As far as I know it has gotten replaced by the XP-90.

Problem is, the XP-90 doesn't fit Socket-A. And there are now quite a few Socket A heatsinks which are rated at 3400 or even 3600, and certainly outperform the SP-97.

I did notice there's a SI-97 which I haven't come across before, and it has the same rating as the SP-97. Is this a new one (possibly a replacement) or have I simply missed it.

the sp-97 would go great with a Tornado fan....if u dont mind the 50something DB noise :lol:

www.thermalright.com states that the XP-90 is for only Athlon 64 and Intel, so I wonder if they are going to make a socket A version, or if that is what the SI-97 could be??
Either way, they are all quite high end heatsinks and would cool a 2500+ mobile sufficiently under the right circumstances (sufficient case airflow, CPU voltage, etc will of coarse play a huge factor).

i think the SP-97 is great, it got my mobile up to 2.5ghz so i dont c any problem with that

I just got my mobile 2500 to run at 2.2Ghz (11*200) on 1.475v. Prime 95 stable, or so it seems. After 6 hours+ so far.

I gotta' say that would have let you go with something cheaper in the heatsink-department. "All" I'm using at the mo' is shuttle's standard heatpipe-cooling.
