Instead of looking for the speaker, have a look at the wires that plug into the moboard (hdd led power switch) and see if their is one called "speaker"Quote:

and find another plug on your case that is the same size then plug that in.
Find a small speaker to connect to the motherboard connectors (same place as the Panel Connections). This is very important to hear the beep codes.
There is a h.d.d led, power led, reset sw, power sw, them are the only ones the case has, also i plugged a speaker up to back of mobo and didnt hear anything, there is no other plug,
well you gotta get a speaker to plug into teh motherboard header somehow or we cant figure out what the problem is.Quote:

btw, do you think you installed the cpu properly? it might have fried, i have an old motherboard and athlon 2000+ cpu which wont boot becuase i fried the cpu.
Find a small speaker.
i think the cpu is in correctly i hope it isnt fried cause i paid some $ for it, i think i have a small speaker i will check ok
yes check for god sake lol. feel the heatsync and see if it is getting warm. that will tell us if the cpu is even getting any power.Quote:

the fan isnt getting hot at all i felt the fan while it was running
turn it on for like a minute then feel the metal part not the air, it should be kinda warm by then.Quote:

what a the cpu is it good or bad?
not really too sure...your motherboard might just not be giving the powerto it becuase of a ram problem or video problem so you need to get that speaker.Quote:

ok i will look for 1
I found a speaker but it only has two plug-ins on it, can i still plug it up?
try it, you cant wreck anything, try plugging it in across all combinations of teh pins until you start getting some beeps. (each time after you replug it into a new combination turn off the computer and turn it back on)Quote:

speaker must be dead cause no beeps
Connect the speaker to the 2 pins as shown:
http://filesharingtalk.com/sigs/K7TA-H.gif
no i think it just cant hook up with 2 wires, that or the motherboard is dead and it isnt giving any beeps.Quote:

i cant help u man sorry good luck though
Try removing the RAM and check again.
If you still don't get any beeps then it's the motherboard or the power supply that's faulty.
I would suspect the motherboard.
no beeps with that speaker
I will do ANYTHING if this comp would work.
i didnt have the patience to cruize thru the full 5 pages... but
wht gfx card r u using? if its ATI, then switch to nvidia and see if it works...
sometimes ATI cards prevent a machine from posting at all (no beep, keyboard freezes, etc.)
so it could be the gfx chip
i guess i can try that switch my geforce 5200 256mb out for a radeon 7000
I thought you said you didn't have any parts other than a Pentium II.
I jus bought a geforce yesterday and i tried and switched the cards and it still wouldn't post.
do you have another power supply to try? if you do and it still dont work then just return the processor and motherboard and get new ones it is easier than trying each one seperately since we cant tell what is wrong.Quote:

i think i might, the thing is the power supply, mobo, processor, are all new and came from the same place. BTW, the case has power to it and everything seems to be running including the fan and all, jus cant get to bios to show up on the monitor, that why i said the processor is bad
its either the motherboard, processor or power supply for sure, couldnt be anything else. you tried two different video cards so that cant be the problem.Quote:

was it online or a local shop? if it was a local shop just go down there with teh whoole computer and ask them to figure out what is wrong, if they cant figure it tout they will give you new parts, thats what my local shop did for me when i screwed up my mobo.
oh and your lucky the cpu wasnt getting any power from the motehrboard or else you probably would have had a fire! :o and im not kidding...
I got the parts from Computer Geeks, umm what is there return policy? The reason i think it is the processor and not nothing else is because the fan has power which is on the motherboard, and also when i turn on power to the case it lights up and runs the fan and all but dont see anything on monitor.
uhh it looks like you gotta call them...read this page!Quote:

 that page back and forth thing happened to me too lol.
I think i will send the cpu back and nothing else
I think that would be a mistake.
CPU failure is way less common than motherboard or power supply failures and the symptoms don't eliminate those items.
Doesn't the Pentium II have a power supply?
What is the rating of the power supply you're trying to use?
I whent through all the pages and the motherboard brand and model hasnt been mentioned.
It could even be something simple like wrong jumper settings and your fsb or multiplier are set wrong for that cpu.
Give us the model of the board :)
ur right, @VB, how did you know what the motherboard was to post the instructions from the manual?Quote:
