No it's not for the extra years really. It's to be able to walk, breath etc for the last ten years you have.

Sitting wearing an oxygen mask and scratching your one leg, talking thro' the hole in your throat is not cool. Even if there is good stuff to watch on the telly.

Oh and the £1500 a year not spent (or possibly more for a lot of people) is also cool. It's kind of like getting a 2 grand pay rise.
