If I am behind a router that does not work for me. Should we set something else?

I'm behind a router too, and I can do all that junk. And you will have IPv6 but no tunnel :ermm:
The router is just set up normal, no other ports I "opened".
I think there are any open port. Otherwise I would not explain the following messages when I'm behind a router:
Code:2009-04-28 23:36:36,437 ERROR [newswrapper] Failed to connect: (10049, "Can't assign requested address") [email protected]:119

Well my routers is setup from package to plug in, no additional settings, and all forms of the IPv6 connections work for me, even uTorrent works like it should.
I'm using Windows XP with SP3.
I signed up at Tunnelbroker. I got the following error:
Error: Your IPv4 endpoint is unreachable or unstable. Please make sure ICMP is not blocked.
I googled "enable icmp windows xp" and did the following:
Control Panel > Network Connections > Right-clicked on my connection, Properties > Advanced > Windows Firewall, Settings > Advanced > ICMP, Settings > Check Allow incoming echo request
I got the same error again.
I went to go6.net, registered, and installed the Gateway6 client.
I was unable to share my internet connection (ethernet behind a router on a cable modem) with that connection.
It kept saying:
Internet Connection Sharing cannot be established.
A LAN connection is already configured with the IP address that is required for automatic IP addressing.
I gave up on that.
In uTorrent > Options > Prefences > General, I clicked Install IPv6/Teredo and nothing happened AFAIK.
I ran these two commands in Windows:
netsh interface ipv6 install
netsh interface ipv6 set teredo client
And looked at this forum:
http://forum.go6.net/viewtopic.php?t=99
I added 3653 to the port forwarding settings in my router (since apparently Gateway6 uses that port to establish the tunnel).
Gateway6 was able to connect to authenticated.freenet6.net with my username and password.
Finally, go6.net showed my IPv6 address (after restarting Firefox). And I saw the flying turtle at kame.net.
But the following newsservers don't work in Grabit:
reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl
newszilla6.xs4all.nl
news.ipv6.eweka.nl
I already have an Astraweb account (that works in Grabit), but only use it sparingly.
I also ran this command with no effect:
netsh interface portproxy add v4tov6 listenport=119 connectaddress=news.ipv6.eweka.nl connectport=119
That was my experience. YMMV.
You have to have the go6 client running, after the tunnel is installed, go to network, click you internet connection and share it with the virtual tunnel. Reboot, install Sabnzb or use the command above and it will work, if you followed my step by step instructions in the beginning of the thread.
what are your speeds you guys getting on eweka
mine seems to be at 300 to 350
let me know i am using the go6 and grab it
seems to be the easiet way to get it up and running.. its still working
Thanks for the great guide SonsOfLiberty!
Worked perfectly. Speeds are naturally a little unstable (15-250kbs) and I seem to get alot of incomplete files when the post is older than 50 day.
But I wont complain about anything thats free :)
Yeah it only has a 100 day retention, but as long as the PARS are not incomplete and you have enuff of the file at least it can be repaired.
Also in this thread there a trick to use Newsleecher too if anyone prefers that over SABnzb and you can also do that trick for any newsreader too I think.
Do any of these servers support SSL? does anyone know?
i dont know if its just me but for the last few days at night around 12 am, news.ipv6.eweka.nl aways seems to stop allowing connections after a few seconds of starting SAB+, even though its pingable and up, news.ipv6.eweka.nl being the one that seems to retains more for longer as i got a few 170ish days old files last month on that.
also it seems newszilla6.xs4all.nl doesnt seem to have several files from only 34 days ago (bones-s1e1 etc)odd not having a month old set of files id thought.....
for me ateam201, i can get a solid 500Kbit/s - 570Kbit/s on 3 or 4 threads when it works, and i dont take to much upload bandwidth in other things (no more than 5Kbit/s uploading in torrents to get the missing usenet files for instance) while im downloading from IPv6 go6/freenet6 tunnel usenet on a 512k upload and 10Mbit download connection.
it seems almost as if Go6 give you a ballanced download close to the same as your upload limit, symmetrical i think they call it ?
anyone else noticed that? its odd that you or at least i cant download a lot faster if its not setting up a symmetrical connection based on your fastest upload rate from your ISP....
do we have any more usable servers coming online and made available ?, be it IPv6 or even free IPv4 with the usual several months binary retention and a list of dayily files they contain ?
or has anyone or group of users with several faster upload connections or co-location sites to share, seen fit to run their own small darknet binary news servers x264,divx,mp4,tv,dvd rather than mega big BR, we could share here and get involved, with instructions to follow for newbs news server setup ?
it seems SAB+ could take several or even many slower users servers and combine them all togeher to make a fast community usenet like the old days BUT far BETTER if we end users can find an easy way to setup and share.
As for teh eweka connection, maybe that's when they do there maintenance?
I've not heard of any IPv6 or more free IPv4 ones yet, most people like to keep those servers to there selves, I don't know why, I guess because those free servers would get full really quickly. I took a bit to find what's in this thread.
for over a day now both servers have stopped working.....for me at least.
while newszilla6.xs4all.nl is not even pingable here,i assume its HW's been taken down and/or offline ?
news.ipv6.eweka.nl as almost always, is still pingable, BUT apparently not running the news ipv6 server SW anymore as even telnetting to port 119 doesnt seem to return anything there for over 24 hours, logs seem to indicate no data flowing just after 5am tuesday morning.
anyone else seeing this form the UK Virginmedia connections at least ?
this old Usenet story they ruled on today also bothers me, it just seems wrong, what happened to "mere conduit" defence ?

RIAA claims victory in Usenet.com copyright case
'Direct, contributory, vicarious infringement'

A US district judge has ruled in favour of the Recording Industry Ass. of America (RIAA) in the copyright case brought against Usenet.com that kicked off in autumn 2007.
“We’re pleased that the court recognised not just that Usenet.com directly infringed the record companies’ copyrights but also took action against the defendants for their egregious litigation misconduct,” said the RIAA in a short statement yesterday.
...
Judge Harold Baer of the Southern District of New York court dished out the ruling. He found Usenet.com guilty of “direct, contributory, and vicarious infringement”.
There's no word yet on what penalty the judge has hit Usenet.com "
Bad news for all Usenet users. Whether you use it to download legal files or otherwise, you could find your provider hit anyway."'
again, perhaps we NEED to setup some free smaller binary usenet peering somewere, or i at least cant continue using it as is, shame.
do i take it then that the lack of replys means it's still working fine for you ?
this is really strange if so, as iv changed the tunnnel from amsterdam to montreal and got a new IP, but the news servers are still not there or refusing connection etc.... so its not an IP blocking thing, and with no changes to my once working SAB+ and no new OS or software additions since it stoped working....to account for it at my end.
im loath to go back to torrents full time as their so slow compared to these free binary usenet...
Don't know, don't use it anymore.. I said in the very beginning of the tutorial that these could stop working anytime, the IPv6 were just for testing.
Go back to torrents?
Try a free trial from Binverse or Giganews and you won't ever go back. If you decide you do want to pay (you will get your full bandwidth maxed when downloading, plus you don't have to seed)go with Astraweb it's $11 a month, or get a cheap block account at Astraweb which never expires.
eweka stopped for me a while ago but was using xsnews but that just stopped working for me too :( too much of a good thing and for free as well so can't complain. Thanks for the guide anyhows :) ah well back to virgin's 7 day retention unless anyone has come up with any more freebies???
I'm unable to access news.ipv6.eweka.nl but I can ping it
if your on the go6/freenet6 tunnels it appears they had/still have a few IPv6 routing problems, but newszilla6.xs4all.nl:119 is working again today.
news.ipv6.eweka.nl:119: 0
reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl:119: 0
are still down though....
e94mli, Go6 Enthusiast and go6 servers tech guy said "It is not you. Xsnews is having some problems with the IPv6 service."
but no word on why eweka isnt working again, if it ever will.
yesturday you couldnt reach www.kame.net over V6 IPs, but you can today, at least logged in on the amsterdam.freenet6.net connection so somethings being worked on somewere it seems.
why go back, why not also include that IPv4 connection in your bonding SABnzbd+ 0.4.11 news app, it works fine for me.
currently i have both the newszilla6.xs4all.nl:119 and the news.virginmedia.com:119 set for first try, and the other IPv6 set as fallover/Backup server:.
if your on VM, setting news.virginmedia.com:119 with 5 connections seems to max out my connection mostly before STM kicks in OC, but their news groups and 7 day max retention with lots of cancelation requests are a slight problem.
id still like to see a web based or rss feed of what TV,film, and APPs going into all the popular news.virginmedia.com binry groups so as to then auto-select the newest nzb's if they show up there first before getting outbound peered with the other news servers later.
that way VM end user people and others might start to think about automating their own smaller selections for private end user to end users peering and sharing their content longer term way past the 7 days.
im getting 'Error: Your IPv4 endpoint is unreachable or unstable. Please make sure ICMP is not blocked.' :pinch: when trying to Create Regular Tunnel, i dont get it.

Don't know I didn't use Tunnelbroker in the my guide, I used Go6
at a guess, id say your tunnelbroker.net is down or currently playing up at their end...
im on go6, and if i go to your url above i get redirected to
http://tunnelbroker.net/error.php?e=2
"

however my ipv6 is working fine as i get a dancing turtle at http://www.kame.net/
a valid ipv6 returned at the top of the http://forum.go6.net/ site and all the webpages i force through the sixxs.org by adding .sixxs.org to any DNS reachable web page to force it through their on the fly ipv6 usable cache works fine right now.
for instance this very page forced through it works fine if your ipv6 tunnel is working ok, notice the extra part of the URL on a base url section after the .com to force it through there. it a good way to instantly know if your ipv6 tunnels working at the time.

if your tunnelbroker.net doesnt come back soon try installing a basic windows with ipv6 installed in a vitualbox, then make several copys for each tunnel operator you want to try...
i dont have a tunnelbroker.net account or virtuallbox image set up right now, so cant confirm it's down for you, but right now, the go6 tunnel and newszilla6.xs4all.nl:119: 4 green/green are working fine upto a Download speed: 606.61 KB/s currently on a 10Mbit/s UK VM connection if that helps you rule out these as part of your current problem!
were as news.ipv6.eweka.nl:119: 0
reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl:119: 0
have not worked for me on go6 in over 17 days now.

i assume they broke something when they updated their

Hello!
We've added a new feature on the Regular Tunnel creation page. It will now automatically recommend the closest POP near the computer's IP you are browsing from. You can override the recommendation by simply clicking the "Override" button.
Some notes regarding this:
- If you are connected via a VPN to another location, it will determine based on that remote location's connection.
- If you use a proxy service, it will determine based on the proxy's connection.
- If you are trying to configure for a colocated/vps/dedicated server, simply click the "Override" button after it makes the recommendation and ping/trace to the listed IPs from your remote host.
Again, any problems or issues, please direct all replies to [email protected] "
Thank you pip99 for that info it helped me a lot,Thank you indeed.
it seems news.ipv6.eweka.nl:119: 4 started working again last night with go6 tunnels, its a little slow right now though....250Kbit/s is the best speed i can get at the moment.
i just realised if your new to this and didnt come across the https://www.sixxs.net/misc/coolstuff/#ipv6gate pages your going to need a user/password issued to you for reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl:119 , its working for me again on go6.
goto:
http://www.xsnews.com/ipv6/ and enter your valid email address in the deze pagina linked page, collect the email they send, then enter its info into your SAB+ reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl:119 4 user/password server bit.
Thanks for the registration info!
Yo guys im new to this forum and to newsgroups and i would like to say thanks for all the useful information in this thread
I do need some help though, my go6 tunnel only establishes a connection when I have my ESET Smart Security firewall disabled. I was wondering if you all are aware of some general firewall settings that would allow me to have both the tunnel and the client up at the same time?:frusty:
any help would be sincerely appreciated
if the gateway6 tunnel GUI generic "IPv6-in-IPv4 Tunnel" setting isnt working for you on the primary PC connected to your ISP WAN BB from the outset due to your current firewall settings
(you did authorise the client app through the firewall and remember to also install the windows xp IPv6 dual stack ? ,“Open a cmd.exe window –> Type: “netsh interface ipv6 install” and press enter” )
the very next thing to try is to go into
gateway6/advanced/tunnel Mode and change it from the generic
"IPv6-in-IPv4 Tunnel" to the 3rd option
"IPv6-in-IPv4 Tunnel NAT Traversal"
that will probably get passed your current firewall settings , but you really need to read up and work out what you need to change in ESET Smart Security firewall as NT isnt as versatile as the first option....
at each changed step pressing "disconnect" then "reconnect" and waiting the the popup to return true or false , open a cmd shell and type ping6 newszilla6.xs4all.nl or any other IPv6 URL should be enough to tell you if the tunnels started working for you.
Oh sorry I forgot to mention a couple things . . . im actually trying to do this on a pc that is behind a wireless router. The primary internet connection is to a cable modem via ethernet. Also both computers are on vista, and thus have ipv6 already installed. I'm assuming the steps you mentioned above are for xp?
The NAT transversal option, and actually all of the other options, have not been able to get past my firewall. Another thing that concerns me is that I dont get a flapping turtle on kame.net, although sites like go6.net say that i have ipv6 and I am able to download from ipv6 servers (given that my firewall is down).
I have tried authorizing remote port 3653 UDP and TCP traffic, and some other firewall exceptions, but nothing seems to work.
working:
sab>vista>tunnel>wireless-router>cableBB>IPv6NewsServer
not working:
sab>vista>tunnel>firewall>wireless-router>cableBB>IPv6NewsServer
so clearly its not the wireless router or any internal firewall it might also have set with a problem...
that only leaves your PCs software firewall, theres just something clearly wrong there so thats were you need to concentrate your efforts it seems.
off the cuff thought, does this ESET firewall filter OFF the IPv6 traffic by default or something?, do a google search, i dont have time right now to do it, and see if others have problems with ESET firewall and ipv6 data packets.
perhaps you can totally uninstall it temp (sometime they leave things around, and still attached to the network stack if you just disable them), and put another make of SW firewall on there to see if that then works for you, if so you have to find the right settings for this ESET firewall or just not use it anymore until its fixed or you find the right settings.
"I dont get a flapping turtle on kame.net, although sites like go6.net say that i have ipv6 "
thats odd but iv no clue why it might be right now, you know its working when you take the broken software firewall out of the chain, so id assume turtle is just playing up for now.
well it turns out you were right I did a little research and turns out that lot of people are having issues in certain areas of the ESET's latest firewall. I installed the whole shabang on an xp computer that has the older version of ESET Smart security and everything works fine. Too bad the dl speed is really bad on it. Guess I'l have either revert to the older version or wait for a fix to come out.:dabs:
that working thx
1.where can i find more servers?(if there way)
2. why i need to change port everytime when i open again the program?
3. When the file start to download after x min it stopped download :S why?
not sure about other servers but you only need to change the program to an open port on your pc, assuming yout talking aboud SABnzbd+. For example, if port 8080 is not available than u can change it to 8081 0r 8082 and so forth.
Also I'm thinking that you probably are restarting the SABnzbd+ instead of opening it in your web browser. You need to bookmark http://localhost:8080/sabnzbd/ and open it if you close the original web page that opened once you started SABnzbd+. Once you open SABnzbd+ it will run in the background and you can only terminate it by pressing shutdown in the home tab or through task manager. So if you keep opening the SABnzbd+ program it will search for a new port because there is an already existing SABnzbd+ process that is using your specified port.
The downloads stop if only if you get disconnected from the servers so its either something with the servers or the go6 tunnel. It could also be your connection if you have wireless.
Hope this helps . . .
question of my own . . . how would you monitor the bandwidth that is used by the ipv6 tunnel?
@SonsOfLiberty
THX, im using Go6 & altbinz flawlessly
Is it working for anyone anymore?
