How to Overclock a videocard?

ok im trying to overclock right now...
2 questions
1)when it tests and it shows flashes of the desktop, are there supposed to be red and green streaks?

2) are the core clock frequency and the memory clock frequency always supposed to be in proportion? for example default settings are 175 and 166, do i always have to keep their difference at 9.

no and no

1) that's called artifacting...basically you've overclocked it too far. ;) I used to get that at like 10mhz higher memory clock speed and 100mhz higher core clock speed if i remember right.

2) no it can be whatever propertoin you want...usually the memory will not overclock as far as the core.
