LMAO, Those gifs are hilarious!
300 was a good movie, I watch it on the IMAX screen. I can't believe they film it in 60 days though. The rest is CG, completed in a year.
EXCELLENT movie.
Saw it once in a crappy theater, I forgot it's in the Imax i'll have to see it there also.
Way waaaay over the top, IMO.
Also, some of the visuals are pretty poor - it's too obvious that they are computer generated (I don't mind usually, but in this case it was just too obvious - the part where the 300 set off through a field of golden.. wheat or something, for instance, was horribly done).
one of the greatest movie ive seen in a long time.
well made picture with breliant soundtrack's.
and btw those who don't know what Persia is called these days, it's IRAN, so some1 tell George bush not to go war with them or he will face the ugly tall guy, no not the god the monster.
im thinking of watching the movie tonight, but i saw reviews at rottentomatos and it got only 60% good reviews.. im gonna watch it anyway according to NORMAL people reviews the movie is great
One of the best film ive seeeen!!! (and i know my movies :P )
i believe it deserved seeing in theaters...so i actually supported it rather than downloading it...
AMAZING! now im gonna go see it in imax
very good movie
My rating 8,5
The speech at the end was awesome, then they all chant and charge, poor Persians.
i've just seen it and its one of the best movies i have ever seen :yup:
but i didn't like the end maybe it should be longer to see these Spartians fuck Xerxes :P
It's really one of the best movie i ever seen
I've discovered a mistake in the movie. After de Xerxer's army shoots their arrows, that blocks the sun, when the Spartans recover, they have the arrows in the shields, after that, few seconds later, the arrows disappear.
I thought it was alright, the way in which it ended was too predictable - I don't mean how the story ended, just the way the movie ended. I think that could've been done better.
The visuals were pretty awesome, I think those are the definite highlight of the movie. Worth seeing for sure
You don't know what you are talking about, the big Spartan army that you see at the end of the movie made a huge victory over Persians who evacuated Greece, leaving behind their plans to conquer Greece after their defeat from an army less than 5% of their size.
Go and read some history not only comics of cartoons, to see that the sacrifice of the 300 was not pointless; indeed it helped the rest of the Greeks and the remaining Spartans to get organized and eventually defeat the huge Persian army, sending them back home.
Not according to what I have read. The Persians were defeated later on by Athens in a naval battle, but the army lead by Spartans did lose eventually at the pass.
Did I at any point claim otherwise? I only said that if the movie had continued from the point it ended, we would have seen the Spartan lead army losing the pass to Persians.Quote:

Perhaps you should follow your own advice.
Quote:
The Persians succeeded in taking the pass but sustained heavy losses, extremely disproportionate to those of the Greeks. The fierce resistance of the Spartan-led army offered Athens the invaluable time to prepare for a decisive naval battle that would come to determine the outcome of the war.

You guys are looking in to this too much. It was a fictional story, based on an actual event.
I too think you are wrong. The film is about the Battle of Thermopylae which the Spartans eventually lost. The battle we see about to commence at the end was the Battle of Plataea which the combined Greek forces won.

Also from Wikipedia:
Not to be nasty or anything but I'd advise reading the sources you quote to people.Quote:
Dilios finishes his tale of the 300 on a new battlefield surrounded by raptly listening soldiers. He concludes that the Persian army, who defeated a mere 300 Spartans a year earlier with great difficulty, must now be terrified to face 10,000 Spartans and 30,000 Greeks from the other city-states. The roused Greek host heads off to fight the Persian army, beginning the Battle of Plataea.
In the movie it didn't seem like it was a year after the defeat of the 300. Battle of Plataea ended the war and Xerxes had even returned back to Persia in between. Plataea is also long way from Thermopylai, in the movie the place looked the same.
In my opinion it was still the Battle of Thermopylae, which the Spartan-led army eventually lost. Here's the logical timeline of the battles from Wiki:
1st Naxos – Sardis – Ephesus – Lade – 2nd Naxos – Eretria – Marathon – Thermopylae – Artemisium – Salamis – Potidea – Olynthus – Plataea – Mycale – Sestus – Byzantium – Eion – Doriskos – Eurymedon – Pampremis – Prosoptis – Salamis in Cyprus
Quote:
The Athenians under Themistocles went to Salamis Island, where their fellow citizens had fled after Xerxes I captured their city following his victory at Thermopylae.

Most of the film was about the 300's part in the Battle of Thermopylae.
After the Battle of Thermopylae, there was the naval Battle of Salamis which turned the war in Greeks' favour, after that Xerxes I returned to Persia and finally the war ended in Battle of Plataea. None of these historical facts would make any sense, had persians lost at the pass at the point where the movie ends, which in my opinion is direct continuation to the defeat of the 300, not a different battle a year later in a different place after a naval battle in Salamis and Xerxes' returning to Persia.
The movie doesn't end there though, it ends with the start of the battle of Plataea. From the film itself:
So your contention that:Quote:
So my king died, and my brothers died, barely a year ago. Long I pondered my king's cryptic talk of victory. But time has proven him wise, for from free Greek to free Greek the word was spread that bold Leonidas and his 300, so far from home, laid down their lives, not just for Sparta, but for all Greece and the promise this country holds. Now, here on this ragged patch of earth called Plataea, Xerxes hordes face obliteration! Just there the barbarians gather, sheer terror gripping tight their hearts with icy fingers, knowing full well what merciless horrors they suffered at the swords and spears of 300. Yet they stare now across the plain at 10,000 Spartans commanding 30,000 free Greeks! Ho! The enemy outnumber us a paltry three to one! Good odds for any Greek. This day we rescue a world from mysticism and tyranny, and usher in a future brighter than anything we can imagine. Give thanks, men, to Leonidas and the brave 300! To victory!
Is incorrect.
I stand corrected, seems like I remember the ending of the movie wrong in that case. :)
You are completely dumb, I am Greek and have studied all this in detail for more than 3 years. It is like a teenager from Finland trying to teach me my history.
I told you before leave for a while the forums/wikipedia and read a real book.
sert is right, wikipedia is a very poor reference and is not a substitute for any real book of history or subject for that matter.
I think I'll read up on the Spartans, since I don't know much myself.
But back on topic, the movie was still good
Is a great movie!! I vote 9 in IMDB!
Frank Miller rocks!! LOL
cheers
