Man now I have to wait a week, this is going to kill me. :(
a week for what?
Heh, my ISP is SBC(my mom works for 'em so we get discount :01: ) and on the internet package it says "up to 1.5 MB download" but in practice the download speed is only about 384k.
Up to is different from what you get. But hey, anything beats dialup. Plus SBC fought against the RIAA when they started their "sue 'em all" campaign and they never bitched at us for downloading too much. Then again, I dont have my bandwidth maxed out 24/7 like some people here.
The DSL service, it gets activated on the 25th. :(Quote:

It most likely going to use pppoe. If your using windows try rasppoe.

you should learn the difference between a bit and a byte. internet bandwidth is advertised by isps in bits, so your internet package does NOT say "up to 1.5MB" (1.5 megabytes), it says "up to 1.5mb" (1.5 megabits). in contrast, most windows programs measure internet bandwidth in bytes.Quote:

so if internet explorer or whatever program is telling you that you're getting 384 kilobytes per second, then you are getting nearly twice as much bandwidth as promised by the isp. :P
Actually it's mistaking 1 inch for 8 inches. 2/3 of a foot. ;)Quote:
