Big dawg, you will love gaming much more than ever before because it will be much more realistic than ever before.

Full Scene Anti Aliasing (FSAA)
Full-Scene anti-aliasing (FSAA) is a sampling technique that creates more detailed and realistic looking images, by removing the stair stepping effect seen on the edges of objects within computer generated images. High quality anti-aliased graphics are achieved with sub-pixel edge detection and color compression for greatly improved performance. Full scene anti-aliasing modes 2x/4x/6x.

Anisotropic Filtering
Anisotropic filtering enhances overall 3D quality by rendering sharp, detailed textures. As more texture samples are filtered, the image quality improves. Without Anisotropic Filtering, objects and environments in the 3D world will appear blurry and fuzzy, effectively degrading the level of realism.
Quote:
Anisotropic filtering improves image quality by sampling textures more frequently. This is particularly important for objects rotated at sharp angles relative to the viewpoint. For example, textured flat ground in the distance and scenes with rotating 3D objects in the foreground will both benefit from anisotropic filtering, and are typically found in today’s gaming content. The R300 VPU filters more samples than the competition, with minimal performance degradation. Supported Anisotropic filtering modes on the Radeon 9800 XT are 2x/4x/8x/16x
What does my card support? how much FSAA and how much Anisotropic?
And my monitor is a 3 year old 17' black Dell CRT...its nice with goooood colors and stuff..but not a flat screen or nothin...So it wont be AWESOME gaming lol
i dont plan on playing hl2 or doom3 becuz....i dont even have the guts to download those two games as to playing them   :ph34r:Quote:

@ ADAM
What was that NFUS game you were talking about that is awesome?? I cant wait to play battlefield on my computer!!! lol :D I dont know how much I will love it tho..as all I have is 2 speakers which are kinda nice...and a 17' monitor...
download nfsu here
It is the best DX9 game I have played so far. The textures are so high quality you wont believe it.
The 9500 pro I believe has the same AA and AF as the 9800 XT.
I cant afford a new card right now, so ive overclocked it, i agree it is the bottleneck in my sytem, but the cpu and ram seem to be making up for it, no lag in most gamesQuote:

RXG and DWK both of yall have racehorses with lead hoves! lol
The main difference between us, Bigdawg, is that you have the PCI version, which I understand is a lot slower than the AGP 8x, hence it will probably be much more of a drain on your game playing potential
I now see you have the 9500, good call, should do you fine :)
...which is...lolQuote:

Also how big is the full game of NFSU so I can try to download the full version?
AA = Anti-aliasing
FSAA = Full-Screen Anti-aliasing
AF = Anisotropic Filtering
nfsu= 2 cds
Yeah I know what they mean...but can my card go up to 16X and 6X?? or what? How high can I put it?
I just bought this stuff right here
This is to put all of my power supply cabling in and all my other ugly cords so that everything looks nice and pretty :D I have 3 diff sizes
http://www.sighost.us/members/bigdawgfoxx/tubing.jpg
Here is the round IDE connector and the blue Cathode I bought...saw an example of it in the store and it looked very nice :D

AA and AF makes the game look better/more realistic, its as simple as that.
I KNOWWW!!
How far can my card go though? Whats the max setings? 8X? 4X? 16X????
Once I put everything together, what should be the first CD I insert? The Windows O/S or the motherboard disc?
windows of course......
Okay, first I am going to answer another one of your questions:Quote:

first install the windows disk and configure it to boot from disk. The Windows XP disk has adequate drivers to support your motherboard intially.
I highly recommed to create a 6 gb partition on your harddrive first, which will be C, which will be for Windows and your favorite applications; then make sure that while in the disk format partition utility to create the remaining space into your desired partitions, otherwise the remaining space will not be recognized by the OS.
The reason why you want to create a 6 gig partition just for windows is because the OS should be a tidy small disk separate from the rest of your storage, consider the fact that the brain of your computer should be kept especially tidy.
I highly advise you spend about a half hour reading tweakhounds guide to installing xp make sure to read all pages so you understand what is going on.
that will teach you some refined methods that should be of use.Quote:
This is what I consider the proper order to install XP, its updates/drivers/patches and applications.
1. XP
2. SP1
3. IE 6, SP1
4. DirectX 9.0a
5. Chipset drivers
6. Video Card Drivers. (run disk cleanup)
7. NIC/Modem Drivers and ISP software
8. Windows Update, Internet Explorer service packs, updates
9. Windows Update, Critical Updates (till there are no more)
10. Windows Update, Other Updates. (don't load unnecessary items)
11. Windows Update, Drivers.
12. Other Drivers (try to automatically update first) (run disk cleanup)
13. Major applications. Fully update each application before installing the next.
14. The rest of your apps. (run disk cleanup)
15. Anti-Virus software and update it.
16. Configure email, move My Documents to another drive
17. Cleanup System Tray, organize Start Menu.
18. Safe Mode, disk cleanup and derfagment.
19. Run Boot Vis.
The 9500 pro I believe has the same AA and AF as the 9800 pro/xt series. You just look in the Open GL and direct 3d tabs for your options.
It should take a good day to build your new system, install the os and configure. Keep us posted on any details or problems that come up!
;) :)
nahh if he knows what he is doing, it should take him 3 hours max...about 1 hour and a half to installed everything, 45 mins to installed windows, and 45 mins to installed everything else.
but the aa and af setting will depends on the game you're playing...generally if you got a 9500 pro you should be able to max it out on games that arent too graphically demanding...like splinter cell.
btw, if you have halo at 800x600 and max out aa and af, will the quality be the same as it is on 1024x768?
Alright adam thanks for all of your help! What step do I put the disc in that comes with my mobo? Just say like 4, 5, or 6 or w/e.
Here is what I have done with my PSU already
http://www.sighost.us/members/bigdawgfoxx/clean_psu.jpg
Ok Adam here is what I have done with my HDD so far. The space for the Windows will be 10GB and I have 70GB for all of my media. Then once I put the windows disk in I will just tell it to reformatt the C: drive and install windows on there and then windows will load up and everything...right?
It's a little more confusing than that. You cannot create tha 10GB partition until you boot the disk effectively. Once the cd loads the partiton manager, thats where you make the ten gig partiton and the 70 gig partition.
you do the f8 I agree thing first and choose to delete (I think you push l) the old partitions and choose to format using the NTFS file system (NOT quick format)
then choose to install XP on the 10 gig partition, which you will have to enter in megabytes and windows see 1024 mb = 1 gig
10240 mg = 10 gigs
dont forget to create (not format) the remaining by selecting the remaining space and creating the other partion
I dont want to do that because then I will loose all of my data. Clocker told me to already creat diff partitions which I have done. Then just install windows on the 10GB and leave the other one alone...I think that would work.
Well I think he is right there.
As long as Windows recognizes the partions that you made. everything should go fine. What utility did you use to create those partitions?
My personal advice to you is to back everything up to CDs and then reformat the whole disk.
He used Partition Magic (I think), Adam.
Windows has always recognized those partitions for me.
Backing up is always a good idea anyway, just to be safe....
During install, have Windows reformat C: drive as usual,dawg...
Ok, I think I clearly understand. Adam I used Partition Magic 8, as Clocker advised me too. I have about 50GB of media so there is NO WAY I am backing that all up onto CDs.
Lazy sod.Quote:

lol dont u mean lazy sob? And that would take forever and cost alot...it would be much better to just put it on a new partition that way if something does ever happen to windows then i wont loose all my data usually. Thanks for all the help clocker :beerchug: to ya
Heh, I have about that much in stuff to back up, which is why I put it on my parents computer, hehe.Quote:

Btw, speaking of bigdawg, if you wanted to you could easily use that old celeron with Linux, and buy a nice big hard drive to have a file server/backup source.
Lol nah...thats way to much clutter..I just plan on having this new one and this old one will sit out in the garage or something...maybe go to my little brother later in life.
