the green lantern character had its ups & downs over the years, but the green lantern corps was always a great concept with a lot of potential. it's nice to hear that a new writer is giving it a good treatment.
can't see myself ever getting into crossover event driven superhero thing again, though. i used to like it when i was a kid, but just don't have the patience or the appetite for it anymore. especially have no interest in getting sucked into anything like the old chris claremont version of x-men, where you had to buy 5 or 10 different series every month just to understand what was happening in his superhero soap opera. if i read a comic book nowadays, i basically need it to be a few hundred pages at most with a definite beginning, middle and ending. "graphic novel" with emphasis on novel.
regarding the original topic of the thread, it's difficult for me to choose any specific titles as my most favorite, since there are so many that i've read and so many that i haven't... but...
watchmen and dark knight returns, kinda obvious and nearly everyone prolly has those. miracleman, brat pack, marshal law (by judge dredd writer pat mills), love & rockets, madman, daredevil (frank miller years), elektra assassin, grendel, sandman mystery theatre, bacchus, swamp thing (alan moore & rick veitch years), eightball, anything by jim woodring or charles burns, etc.
recently been visiting the local shop and looking for newer things to read. been reading a bit of garth ennis' the boys, and some things by mark millar (marvel 1985, chosen: american jesus... and waiting for tpb of kick-ass before attempting to read it). i didn't think those were completely terrible or anything, but i'm still sorta on the search for something new that'll completely floor me like the older stuff i listed used to do.
I actually just got into comics earlier this year. A friend of mine brought me into the comic book scene, as he is a HUGE collector of comics.
I started reading Conan The Cimmerian, and then moved onto the different spin-offs of the series. Now im reading Conan the Cimmerian, Kull, and Solomon Kane. Basically all of the Robert E. Howard stuff.
Its all so gory, awesome, dark, and just plain addicting!
Donīt read comics now :pinch:

i dont really read comics much, but i like Wanted and Kick-Ass by Mark Millar
