You're not the only one.
NIS 2006 is having the same issues. Symantec must have done a crackdown. I haven't found a workaround yet.
I tried uninstalling for now and reinstalled Client Security. Even that isn't working. The firewall stays disabled. Next is to try removing all symantec files with this: http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/t111599.html
Same thing happened to me on the home PC earlier with NIS 2006.
My solution was to uninstall and download a different AV.
I'm now using Symantec corp.
wow, I'm so happy I resisted the urge to upgrade. Using Internet Security 2005 now.
/me crosses fingers
Yeah it happend to two bros yesterday but mine worked, untill this morning. VB if you find a workaround let me know asap.
This morning for me also.Quote:

I have tried uninstalling all Symantec products and using the tools in the above link to remove all traces. I then tried installing Client Security but still the firewall still won't run. The AntiVirus part does work.
Im using system works premier, I'll give that a go later and see what happensQuote:

I'm using Symantic Client Secuirty Corp ver.3 by the way .
Instead of re-installing systemworks I installed NOD32. Wow just wow... does a full scan in 22 mins, im down like 3 processes, overall its pretty good. I think I'll be using this untill theres somekind of a workaround for norton. :)
NOD32 Pwns Norton...stay with NOD32.
Maybe so but that's only an Antivirus. I really like Norton Personal Firewall for blocking outbound communication.Quote:

Vb ,Look ''N" Stop is one I liked before I D/L 'd your link to Symantec Client .

I was thinking after you used the Norton uninstall tool have you tryed a heavy duty regcleaner ? Amazing what you find !
Yeah the worm protection was nice cuz it blocked incomming things like instrution attempts, and it also has msn scanning... feck why did they have to screw us over :(Quote:

I am currently temporarely running on xp's firewall...
Any turnaround for this activation crackdown yet?
Why not just use a Corporate version like Symantec Client Security ? Never have to worry about program expiring . :)
Have recomended myself many times and linked from two very good members as VB and Izzy . :)

Strange board behaviour. This happens every once in a while.
I'll discuss with team...
Have had some issues with ZA mentioned above in the past an wouldnt touch or recommend it and have heard others say the same. Think a better app thats simple to use and will do what you want is Syagte which has a freeware version...Quote:

I use Outpost, a bloody excellent firewall, and Kaspersky, the second best AV client out there.
IMHO.
It is and most likely will vanish as its been abandoned as far as I know due to the buyout.
However freeware version 5.6 is current and available on the net and will do what he wants...
