Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX
whats ur opinion of these two graphics cards? i have been needing a new one for a while.
-
Re: Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX
the GTS vs. GTX or opinions on the geforce8 in general?
-
Re: Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX
if you're going to go with the GTX make sure you have a VERY VERY superior system. If not, then your CPU/memory is going to be bottle necking the video card.

yes
currently i have a XFX 7100 GS, just FYI
-
Re: Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX
the 6300 is DEFINITELY not good enough for the GTX. You need one of those Core 2 Extremes to get the full power of the GTX.
By the way if you're getting 4GB like I have right now, you should get the 64bit OS to fully use the 4GB. I'm on 32bit vista and 32bit OSes only register up to 3GB of ram due to the limitations of 32bit OSes.
-
Re: Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX
how can i tell if i have a 64bit OS? i am only getting vista when i decide on a laptop i want
-
Re: Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX
It should say X64 when you're looking at the description/name of the OS you're going to be buying.
And you're getting the GTX for your laptop? what?

i want to get a new card for desktop since i have a old one, and my laptop i am not sure whats specs i should get on it. i was asking how do i find out if my desktop has a 64bit OS?
-
Re: Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX
oh you want to know right now if your OS is 64bit. It probably isn't because 64bit OSes aren't that popular due to the lack of driver support.
you can right click on my computer in the start menu on XP and go to properties. Or you can go into control panel>system>system info(? I don't use XP anymore so I'm not sure where everything is.)
-
Re: Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX
basically, if you dont know you have it, you dont.

System Properties can be seen by simply pressing the Windows symbol key with the Pause/Break key on the keyboard.

Re: Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX
I have no idea where that comes from. All I know is that I use that very often. It's easy to remember how to do something that you do all the time. It's not so easy to remember where you learned it.

Re: Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX
Well if you're going to get a gaming laptop you better be ready to have it plugged in all the time to play games.

if you're comparing a gaming LAPTOP to and console, go with a console. the PS3 if you have the money. but if you're comparing a desktop to a console. i would say desktop
and honestly, someone please tell me why you need 4GB of ram? i have 2GB and i've never used more than 1.3GB of it. and beleive me, i've tried.

Re: Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX
do the PS3 or XBOX 360 have a modchip yet? whats ur opinion on moniters really, because if i go with a game console i will get a new moniter for my pc atm i only have 21 inch samsung .
-
Re: Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX
to answer your question simply: yes, you can play downloaded games on both the PS3 and the xbox360. as for the monitor, i would say get another 21" and have dual screens, its cool, its practical, its nice and you NEED it if you plan on using Windows Sidebar ;)
-
Re: Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX
how do the dual moniters work? can u use the internet on one and watch a video on the other? or is it the same exact thing on both moniters, also can u guys recommend any games for PS3 or XBOX 360? since i will probably buy some with either console i choose
-
Re: Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX
i will just skip a laptop and get an xbox360
-
Re: Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX

xbox-scene.com great site... lots of info, but lost of rules also. its easier to get it done... this is for the 360... as for the PS3, i know nothing, other than you load a new OS on it or something and boot games from the harddrive

Re: Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX
GTS. GTX and Ultra are overpriced.

Yes, we all know that but much of us are actually willing to spend our cash on a Intel Core 2 Extreme so the GTX isn't bottlenecked by the system?

if you do... MAKE SURE... its not banned... if its new, then okay. but if you buy a used or pre-modded one... make sure you find out that the console is not banned from Xbox Live.
if you want to know more... pm me, lets not derail your thread any more :)

Re: Nvidia 8800GTS vs 8800GTX
nvidia sucks.
I think HD 2900XT is the best graphic card in the world.
