hello to everyone heres a tip that seems to help and my downloads seem to really take off. i find that when i goto the firewall option and change my incoming pport
from 1214 to 32656 my downloads seem to get some more boost .
i tried this method and it kranked my dl from 56kb/s to anywhere from 90-160kb/s.
give it a try and let me know how it goes for ya
i hope this tip works for other people using k++ also

I know this worked for me, been using it before my harddisk had to be reformatted and my entire system rebuilt...
back then I found it on another k-lite forum that seems to be down now, so I'm glad I found it in here too... thanks, hope it still works with my current system configuration.

Wow , ive been trying to DL this file for ages, changed the port number and it immediatly started to DL. Must be my isp throttling port 1214.
Will this work with all versions of k-lite or just the latest?
where is the option to change the port number, I can see an option greyed out but its not 1214. Do I change it anyway?

This may be just my crappy computer, but it slows down the download speed for me. I have a cable modem on a HP Pavilion from 1998. I used to be downloading at about 31kb/s now i download at 0.12-2.04kb/s Ill just change it back.

If you've been using Kazaa for a LONG time and sharing the whole time, you may have built up quite a queue of unfinished uploads and downloads.
To make matters worse, if you're not firewalled and/or behind a router/LAN and your ip has been CONSTANT more or less the whole time -- then people who were trying to download from you 6 months ago may STILL be trying... along with everyone else who got in line in the meantime! They may still be trying your ip for files you QUIT sharing 6 months ago.
This is why you can start up Kazaa and INSTANTLY (almost!) get your upload slots all filled with people -- they were constantly retrying your ip address for the moment you logged back in.
But here's the catch: change the port Kazaa Lite++ is using from 1214 to something else and they all are blocked and the connections dealt with much quicker than trying to tell each upload requester "go away, I am busy/don't have that file".
Also, port-scanners are LOOKING for kazaa on port 1214 -- they can't scan ALL ports unless they want to scan for kazaa-running computers very slowly. So getting 'hit' by one of these might slow Kazaa down as they may be sending Kazaa Lite++ a garbled packet on port 1214. (pinging it perhaps?)
You can always try right click then "find more sources" That helped me out a lot.
Ok when i changed my port to the designated number..it says there was a virtual error and closed kazaa...but when i opened it back up it kept the higher number that i changed it to...my downloads didnt seem to increase much though...there always some files give me 50Kb/s and some .15 but for a whole file i can get it up t around 300kb/s
That is a very strange port. God knows what it does.
Well got rid of k-llite but dose this work for 56k

I've noticed in the past changing a port is kinda like jumping a SN or restarting KaZaa, sources kick in, though things remain about the same thereafter. Though I see no long term improvements yet. I also wonder why that port would help, actually it seems it may be an old tale started by someone that was scanning that port, who knows. Though Swieteck also makes a good point here, changing your port to often stops return uploaders from finding you.
Does n e one know how to make your downloads from a 56k to its highest potential?
sorry "WooriedGuy" im a fellow 56k'er and there is really nothing you can do...the most you can hope to d/l is 6kb/s (if ur lucky)....but 56k normaly d/ls @ 1-4kbs

Unless you link four or five modems together, then it rocks. Search on Google for modem linking.
Weird, ive been having connection probs with one dl so i tryed to change the port and no luck. So i changed it to 1214 (it was something else at first) and bam, it goes from .78 k/s to 35 k/s. Thats strange considering everybody else got a boost from the opposite.

Go into kazaa+ options (click on options at top of your kazaa)and click 'firewall',now change the port number at bottom of box to whatever you want ;)
It goes slower. Even with 6 users to .36kbs
I just tried downloading Morcheeba's album covers for their new album, and usually even if it's from a good user the speed is 4.00kb max, and it just shut up to 20.00kb (that is good for a 150k user). It might be too early to tell, but I think your hint actually works. Thanks

the port that i use that seems to do well is - 2464 - i dont know where i got that from it was just there.

I have 1867 port and this 1214 port is so disabled at my options-by default

Not entirely sure here but it does seem to help. I wasn't getting many of these files, however it seems to find them much quicker now. Well I must investiagate.
i'm a 56k user....it did nothing for me...i think it even got worser rather than better...dammnn another idea that doesn't work for me....god....is there anything that does work for me???????????.....dissapointing downloads at 4.5k..when the maxxx is supppose to be 7k...what's the point...fraustration??????
I've tried every single tip in here and nothing...i think i'll just give up playing about with the connection cause it just never gets better????????????????????
