Tip For Faster Web Page Loading

This tweak will help web pages load faster, it has no real effect on download speeds, just helps your pc look up websites faster thereby speeding up how fast the page loads and making web-surfing more enjoyable.

For XP & 2K

use run, type in regedit and navigate to the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic
es\Tcpip\ServiceProvider

For 98, 98SE & ME

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic
es\VxD\MSTCP\ServiceProvider

On the right for ALL OS's change these entries: (ALL values are HEXIDECIMAL)

Class = 1
DnsPriority = 1
HostsPriority = 1
LocalPriority = 1
NetbtPriority = 1

To change the value right mouse click on the value and select modify and enter the values above once you have done all of them reboot to take effect and see how fast your pages load.

I'm using Windows98SE and all the values you specified are in binary.

Is this right? What should i do?

Doesn`t matter 1 (hexadecimal) = 1 (binary)

Hmm im still a little confused....

This maybe a dumb question, but is it ok if it reads Class 01 etc.?

Like when i go to modify, a lil box comes up with 0000 followed by a value (the 0000 part isnt changeable). And if i just punch in '1', it comes up as '0000 10'.

Does this mean 1, or 10, or sumthin else (as u can probably see im an idiot when it comes to binary)

What should i put?

When I get to MSTCP there is no serviceprovider folder in there, just registry keys?? im running xp

EDIT: A big DUH to me I was using the windows98 one :lol: :rolleyes:

hi i dont want to sound stupid but anyway... when i look at the values for the class etc.. i get (08 00 00 00), and (d0 07 00 00) etc, so where do i put the 1... is it the last pair of 00's?? please help

Just double-click on the value. It's obvious where to put it once you do that...

I suppose when your already on broadband or other fast connection you really cant tell the difference by using this tip. I sure cant. :huh:

This tweak helped somewhat. Perhaps from a five second average page load to a measely two. Decent. It is not intended for helping internet speed, I know, but it does help page loading (once you get to the site). I give it three out out of four stars. B)

Now how about one that cuts down the load time when you logon to your system altogether? XP is notorious for "stalling" before deciding to load the start-up programs. I know that there is a tweak similiar to the one for internet page loading (registry value edit), however, it has been so long since I have come across it that I have forgotten what to edit.

I dont buy that :lol: . This tip may help page load performance but in no way will it increase file download speeds. If your on 56k then thats all your gonna get is max 56kps nothing more. Because thats all your modem is capable of.

Speaking of 56k I think it should be free. every country or state should have local ras (routing and remote access) servers where people can dial in and connect to the net for free. I mean damn what the hell do we pay taxes for? :huh: Luckily I dont have to deal with that problem. :D

Who said ANYTHING about downloading speeds? I was talking about WEB PAGES LOADING UP, which is what this thread is about. What I'm saying is I noticed web pages load faster even whle I'm downloading.
