My IE is not showing animated gifs and animations, other than as still pictures.
What do I need to do to sort this so that they will work properly.
Thanks for any assistance.

Webroot accelerator seems to work for me. PM with link is on the way.
Have you tried rebooting the PC? :huh:
;) Just a thought.
Tried that - no difference.Quote:

I assume that IE is somehow chosing not to show the animations.
I can't remember telling it that tho'.
I also use AdsGone - but I don't know if that would make a difference.
I think that would block some images altogetherQuote:

Posting in Software might get more replies. Under IE preferences >Advanced there is an option to Play Animation. Take a look at that whether its checked.
Go to options -> advanced options(i dont know what it is called exactly since my IE aint english) there scroll down to multimedia. Make sure that the first box is checked.
too slow :ph34r:
zone alarm also has an option to only show the first frame in gifs.
so if your using zone alarm check its settings
I am as it happens and switching it off allows the animations to play.Quote:

look at the third response that seems to be the one. ;)
Zone Alarm Pro
Privacy / Ad Blocking / Custom / uncheck animation.
Thanks for that chaps. Especially 4Play.
It works now. With ZA Pro active.
I occasionally get the same problem but I'm using NIS. Anyone gort any ideas how to sort that one out ?
Moved to software( With JPauls permission for those of you who concern yourself with such things!!)

It's OK to say I don't understand this - can someone help me.
It actually works more often than not.
NIS = Norton Internet Security.
@lamsey + jpaul cheers :D
@lynx got this off nortons site
not sure how to turn it off but it will be in with the ad blocking options im guessing ;)Quote:
- Allows you to stop animated GIFs, so you can concentrate on reading the information on the Web page and not be distracted by flashing images.
you could also try turning NIS off and see if they start up again.
@4play: thanks for that, although I can't seem to find it. In any case, it is intermittent and doesn't happen too often, and I am usually in a rush when it does happen so I don't have chance to find out what is causing it. With it being intermittent, I doubt whether it is a setting that I can change, more likely a bug caused by some wierd combination of events. And in any case it seems to reset itself.
But I will try to make time to find a solution next time it occurs.
