Would anybody have recommendations for something to recover old deleted files? An online free download would be preferred. I am certain that this subject has already been touched on but, to be honest, I am a bit lazy today and not up to the search. Besides, I’d like some fresh input, as there could well be something new. Thanks

Yes! Check out PhotoRec & TestDisk. at http://www.cgsecurity.org for more information. Do not use this hard-drive or your deleted files will be ruined.
Thanks, I'll give it a try. I am a bit confused though, is the "this hard drive" you mentioned a program or a function of the sofeware you referenced?
I did download PC Inspector File Recovery and though it appears to have found a lot of files I have not been able to read or view anything.

Sorry for being unclear.. "This hard drive" refers to the drive that you deleted the files from. It cannot be written to at all after the deletion. If you downloaded anything or copied any files onto the drive that you're trying to recover files, then it is too late to recover them.Quote:
