cd or dvd?
I want to burn it to cd.
Check out AVI SPlitter (available on KL). There is other software out there too that can help to split files.
depends. are you burning it as a CD-ROM type of thing, or as a video cd? If your burning as a CD-ROM you could always convert it to another format such as WMV. This might help get it onto 1 CD, but will also slightly effect the quality. (allthough i find WMV to be very high quality for the file size). If your burning as a video CD, then try AVI spliter, or another tool that can split movies up. You might be able to find a package dedicated to Video CD burning, including all the tools you need in one. :)
if it is a MPEG, then burn it as VCD (or SVCD).
if it's a .avi you can burn it using XCD, available at sourceforge.
Thanks all.
I'm not sure, but i think that VCDs burn by the length of the movie, not the size correct me if i'm wrong, ;)
I will correct u VCD's go by size.
Your both correct to a degree, it depends both on the quality(size) and the length of the movie, you can fit over 80 mins on a 700mb/80 min cd, the max size can be about 800mb - 820mb depending on how far the particular cd can be overburned.
But the size qouted 853mb is far too big for a 80min/700mb cd, you could either depending on if it's an avi or svcd/vcd, split the movie, get a 800mb cd, burn to dvd or get a smaller version.
as Ive said 1000 tiems it depends on the lenghth not the size!!
If u mean the lenth of the movie then your wrong cause I can put up to 120 mins on a 80 min cd BUT the filesize has to be under 797mb.Quote:

Where do you get the AVI Splitter?
Do u know how to search if u do then search here or even better would be to search for it in yahoo search engine instead of waiting for a reply on it. Yahoo almost never fails.
Easy Video Splitter
Easy Video Joiner
Both great programs, very easy to use. If you need a serial PM me.
What do i have to download to burn it using XCD, i was kinda confused when i went to that site.Quote:

think he means vcd
for that you need tmpgenc (in my sig)
it will convert your movies to mpeg1(vcd) or mpeg2(svcd)
for spliting tmpgenc will split mpg (what you have to convert it to to play on stand alone player)
but if you want to split avi
get virtal dub mod (like virtul-dub just better build)
free program and does alot of handy things removies audio/bad frams
too much to list
Alrite, so using this program how do i split the files in half??? Also after i am done converting what program would i use to burn it and how would i burn it?
What program are u using.
im using tmpgenc
do i convert the entire file then split it? if so how do i?
Yes encode the entire file then split. I take u mean how to spilt just go to file>Mpeg tools hit the merge & cut tab then clik add to add the .mpg then double-clik the file or simply clik edit then set where u want to cut the file and then hit run.Quote:

and nero to BURN BABY BURN!
in my sig under cdr software
to split will it take long???
also how long do u think it will take to convert. I am running @ only 128mb and 1.40gHz.
Damn is your sig legal on this board? I sure love to have them.Quote:

It doesn't take long to split the file. just start encoding and see how long it takes.Quote:

no, i didn't mean VCD, i really meant XCD.
if u use bsi loadmaker, it has xcd "built-in". bsi loadmaker is a tool used to burn DivX/XviD movies, so even if you put the burnt cd in a computer which has no player or/and codecs installed, it will play the movie flawlessly. works like a charm.
another way to achieve the 800mb is using cdrdao. you can download cdrdao here, a command-line program that allows you to burn cd's in mode2 - form2. in other words, you can burn approx. 800mb in a 700mb cd. as i said before, this is recommended for AUDIO or VIDEO files.
search google and you'll find some GUI's to make it easier.

You can burn 797mb on a 700mb cd with nero as vcd without using all that cdrdao shit.
now tell me if with nero you can burn 797mb of an .avi file.Quote:

with the "cdrdao shit" you can.
Oh ok, excuse me but what is he going to do with it, his DVD player won't play it he want's to watch it not store it.Quote:

could do it with kvcd or data
80min cdr = 800mb without over burn
ok, sorry too... i forgot he wanted to watch it on his dvd player. you're right.Quote:

yea.. the split takes a matter of minutes and im running a 600mhz p3.
Alrite so i did my first converting using TMPG, i converted it to a VCD. Well first off there is no sound, secondly the size is 2.4gb and for some reason the length of the movie is now 4 hours but its only 1 and a half. The other two and half hours are just black screen.
Alrite, i was able to get the black stuff away but now i still have no sound ? :(
Oops u know what...U didn't use the wizard did u if u didn't u should have but u probably encoded it with it on ES(Video Only) the first bubble at the bottom if u did you were supposed to put it on System (Video+Audio) but you might not be in trouble because it can be fixed if you still have your source. Do u still have your source?
could i use AVI splitter to trim down a version of matrix reloaded i have on divx?
its just slightly too big for a disc.
(i mean getting rid of the credits & things)
or if theres any other ideas.. the divx is about 740mb.
Well, first off 740mb will but if it's a DIVX meaning it's in .avi format can't be burned to a cd AND watched in a DVD player has to be encoded but for storage purposes just do it as a DATA CD.
