What I love about p2p

Surely those 5 seeders can share more than 3k?

Re: What I love about p2p
They may already be doing so. To other people. :O
There are some fuckers that limit their upload speeds to 1kB/s, however.

yeah definitely to get bonus points and avoid HnRs
this however is the biggest demerit of the p2p as the torrent gets older there are fewer seeds on it, i am downloading a torrent from SCC its been more then 60 hours and ETA 20 hours.lol

truely saying, I never faced that type of problem in scc as all of them are really fast. But the word, old, might have some effect on that torrent.

Re: What I love about p2p
i never face problems like this :D ...but if i face somehow i download slow & i know i could download with 10mb/s + i go & download from warez :D faster & faster
but it also depends on connection tooo :D
i luv p2p *& warez

Wow, you kids need to learn some patience. That's nothing whatcdfan, I've spent months downloading files at 1-2KB/s just because I wanted them, and even at that, I'm spoiled compared the days of bauds and stuff. Hell, I cap my global download to 200KB/s just to be nice to the router and my laptop.
I totally get your point OP, as it is aggravating, especially if that torrent is sitting next to another that's going berserker fast, but you also have to keep in mind the kind of peering you get to the seeders you are connected to, in conjunction with other already mentioned factors. The seeder clients are going to prefer to seed files to other peers that have better peering, as well as better speeds. That is one of the problems with all these stinking seedboxes, it leaves home connections in the dust, and anyone that actually wants to view a file from home has to wait for all the buffer whores to finish.
Intr4nsedit: I might also point out that it's possible you are only connected to three actual seeders, owing to the 2. series utorrent multipeering. It allows the same person to connect to you twice on one torrent, and makes it appear there are more seeders in your client than there actually are.

Re: What I love about p2p
Yeah the ETA was only 6 hours anyway... I'd have no issue with that.

You may want to check if the same release if part of a pack on their archive section. If it is, partial download it from there - that'll give you better speeds, as most packs stay well-seeded.
Intr4ns1t, can you elaborate a bit more on that 2.x "multi-peering"? I thought that the possibility of more than one connection from the same IP on the same torrent was controlled by the bt.allow_same_ip advanced setting, which is set to false by default. :)

Well, the easiest demonstration is to snatch a torrent, and when you connect to a peer, who is using one of the 2.x series utorrents, you can watch what I am talking about. One peer will resolve to an ip address, and that same peer will also connect with an I don't know what you'd call it, but here's a pic of what I'm talking about. Both these peers are the same person leeching:
Attachment 62701
Not sure about the terminology, but it makes your peer list look more full than it actually is.

Re: What I love about p2p
The first peer in your picture looks like someone using IPv6. I've never seen anything like that in my peerlist, probably because I have IPv6 uninstalled in Windows XP and disabled in 7.

Fair enough. I've been wondering about it for ages, but didn't consider it all that bad a thing. Out of curiosity, what specific faults of IPv6 that have you disabling it?

Re: What I love about p2p
Same guy is connected both as IP and as resolved hostname!

There aren't any faults with IPv6, it's just that my ISP doesn't support it yet, so it'd be pretty senseless to enable it in my computer.
As you may know, there are every time less available IPv4 addresses, which is the reason v6 was created. When my provider gets off its lazy ass and introduces support for it, then I'll happily enable it. :)

Re: What I love about p2p
Yeah I was under the impression that when you connect to IPv6 peers it lists their hostname as a separate entry because IPv6 isn't really well supported yet.

The best part of your Christmas day was learning how well uTorrent and IPv6 get on with each other? :ermm:

Ah, alrighty then.
@ca_aok, It never ceases to amaze me, how little I know, despite knowing a decent bit about alot of things. Guess I should work out my google fu a bit more often.

There was a post from some douchebag right in between mine and Intr4ns1t's posts. And he's the one that orginally typed that, and I just felt like repeating it.
But the FST staff, the clowns that they are, decided to delete his post but leave mine. :shifty: Now it looks like I'm the one that's telling Intr4ns1t to do that...
Bravo staff.

If you know what kind of member Funkin' is, then you know he'd never flame anyone else. When I saw his post and its grammar, it was obviously clear that he was addressing someone else whose post got deleted.

And I knew it was you that did that. ;) It put a smile on my face and I really needed one. Thanks for that.

Glad somebody noticed that. I always use capitalization and punctuation in my posts. I just simply copy/pasted what the other guy typed. Besides, if I was going to flame someone(which I would never have a reason to flame Intr4ns1t, he's just too nice), I would put a little more effort into it. Telling someone to commit a lewd act on one's own father is a little too simple.

There are some fuckers that limit their upload speeds to 1kB/s, however.
You are a cheater and yet you complain that someone limits their REAL upload speed to 1 kB/sec?

This is a BT paradox.

Oh, I see. Apparently just because he makes (or made) mistakes he's in no position to argue for what's right. :shifty:

Oh, and in case you care, I started leaving my netbook seeding overnight when I found out my ISP triples my upload speed during the night. I sure am the scum of BT land, eh?
Anyway, who cares. This has been discussed to death several times.

According to some people's opinions, I am also the scum of the BT land, so we are kinda in the same boat. :)

The problem is people tend to think you like that as the term 'sbi' is assosiated with your nick.
btw, who cares?
