Boot from a live CD and run a virus and malware scan from there.
If you have a router reset it.Not just turning it on and off but reset it. Malwarebytes and the rest will not find a router redirect.
dl Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware boot in safe mode
if you don't even bother to write your own problem, I won't bother to help neither
Hiren's Boot CD includes a live version of Windows XP.
I guess I'll try that.
is there a way to block FF from opening multiple windows though, through options or add-ons, etc.
also go and check msconfig for suspicious entryes...and disable them..if it;s on registry delete them
I think there was a way to force new windows to become new tabs instead, but that's not really helpful... I'd advice you to use a different browser if you must, while you attempt to get this fixed. Here's a link to a portable Opera.

Getting browser popups used to be a common symptom of being infected by spyware, typically bundled with many P2P applications. Have you installed any downloaded software lately - especially anything P2P or Warez related?
Like others are saying, you need to give your PC a virus scan.
Dr Web Cureit is good, also Symantec Endpoint Recovery Tool - both come as live cd.
I'd run regcleaner too for good measure
