Hdd Temperature: Crasy Indications In Hmonitor.

I don't know why, but sometimes my computer give me a beeeeeeep!!and Hmonitor display a temperature of 253°Celcius!!! for 1 second or something :o ,

Usualy my HDD temperature is betwen 29 and 37°Celcius (depending mostly on the temparature in my room)

Is that normal ? or do I have a problem of voltages or something?

I'm thinking about the voltages, because I always have those two indications displayed in red:

Core +1,76V
Aux +2,53V

When I put my mouse cursor on these 2 indications, it display a maximum and minimum value for each one. Here they are:

Core: Max=+1,79V / Min=+1,74V

Aux: Max=+2,54V / Min=+2,53V


Any help would be great :)

Those temps are pretty normal.

You got your comp hooked up to a tv or something else?

Sometimes, on some mobos some monitoring proggies may pick up unintended signals from tv's and suchlike.

All these readings (temps, voltages etc) have to go through an A2D (analogue to digital) converter. A2D converters are quite slow devices, so it is possible to catch them in the middle of a 'refresh'. When this happens, you get strange values which is probably what is happening here.

It is often possible to check if the A2D is performing a refresh. A good piece of software will do that or look out for these anomalies and read the temp again. It sounds like Hmonitor isn't doing this.

@leonidas, you display you HDD temperature but what's the CPU temperature?

The cpu temperature is ok from 47c to 59c ( very rarely to 59c) most of the time it's like 56c. And it didn't bug like with the HHD temp displaying.

Perhaps there is a BIOS update for your motherboard that deals with this issue. What motherboard is it? Or check the manufacturers web site for information.

I know its bios has been updated like 6 or7 month ago

How can I know which motherboard it is?

But if it's not serious it doesn't matter, it beeps maybe 5 times in 3 days which is nothing

Aida 32 will tell you that and all sorts of other very useful information.

Ive just unzipped AIDA16 - "Worldwide Sysinfo Tool", got 5 files: one *.exe, 2*.bat, one *.his, one *.diz, and one internet shortcut, but I don't kno how to use them.

I tried the *.exe and the *.bat files, but I just got displayed MsDos windows for like 1/4 second :blink:

Try run>msinfo

or run>dxdiag for example, one of those two might give your system-model.

Surely HD temps come from the HD, not from the mobo?

Sorry I had a electricity failure in my house.

My motherboard 's name is Asus A7M266


It's strange cos when I booted my computer 30 minutes ago I had like 4 beeeeps of something and the displayed HDD temperature was crasy for 10 seconds or something going to 9°C to 241°C and then stabilisating to 21 °C. :huh:

leonidas do you have a surge protector? if not get one!

Yeah but usually your sensor goes over the mobo, I thought, like on PC-Alert haven't tried his proggie though.

i live in the uk. if a surge protector get one from ebuyer there about £5 for a 4 plug one and if i get it one from a retail shop there about £15 for the same spec (these are belkin ones and thats a good company and insure goods for loads of money :D )

You can get external sensors which you tape to the equipment of your choice, and then you have to label them yourself. But the latest drives have internal temp sensors which are read through the IDE port, I believe as part of the SMART technology. I am assuming this is the type leonidas has, but I can&#39;t be sure.

I have a seagate 120 Gb. I buyed it 7 months ago. So I guess it has this internal temp sensors you&#39;re talkin about

I think I&#39;ll buy a surge protector as soon as possible.
