how much did you overclock it??
I can't remember of the top of my head but quiet a bit :huh:
start up your computer and go back into your bios, set it back to how it was before, then if you want to give it another try, overclock it in small increments and check the temps after each time, if the temps are reasonable go back and do another SMALL increment!
Big jumps are not good
PS maybe if your lucky, you didn't fry it
I can't load up setup because the monitor wont even boot.
read your manual, it should say something about a clear cmos jumper, move it to the clear position, then move it bakc to the normal position,Quote:

and all will be fine, make sure you dont touch anything else, and you are grounded while doing it, and the pc is off.
open up your pc and reset the cmos jumper for a couple of secs and then put it back in noraml position and you have default setting and it will boot again
I don't know anything bout a clear cmos jumper can someone explane please?
what is your motherboard manufacturer and product
The make of the motherboard is MSI MS-6390 if that helps?
do you know if its ver1.0 or ver2.0 board?

I reseated a few things and I managed to get it to boot it checked the memory then after that froze i rebooted and it didnt come back on.
its kinda hard to help u if u dont know....do u have a manual? just look in there and it will tell u how to reset it....cant u take out the cmos battery and it will clear?
and by the way, what were u doing ocing your comp when u dont know your mobo and hwo to change it back if sometign went wrong
your clear cmos jumper shoule be at the bottom right of your board. and be labelled jbat1 on the board maybe.
put it to the top 2 pins to clear it, then put it back down to the bottom 2
I do have a manual but they changed the motherboard since.
I dunno why I done it really all I know is I will never try it again :( .
what do u eman by they change the motherboard since....ur manual is for your mobo right?
I see it at bottom right labled jbat1 but the pins are set to the top as default shall i move them down then back up instead?

I hope anyone reading this whos thinking bout' overclocking learns for my mistakes "read up about it first and don't work on trial and error work on knoledge".
I was so lucky not to have killed my pc and so retarded to have just jumped into overclocking in the first place.
i done that on my pc, went staright from 166 to 200 with no probs, with the ram at 166, but it was pretty unstable, i think it needed a bit mroe power, but i cant change the vcore.

I just changed the FSB from 133 stock to 166 and rebooted (before I put the case side cover back on just in case I had to clear CMOS) and it's been running fine n dandy for about 10 months now.
you're not stupid trying to overclock...but i think you wanted to much out of it thats why it wont boot...but now since you know how to reset the cmos.
you can actually find what you top is...just take it one step at a time...you cant get a max overclock in one day...it takes patience to do it right and find you best configuration...im not saying you should overclock..but if you are ever trying again be patience and take it a step at a time.
i cant boot above 169 ram clock, but i can boot all the way up to 200fsb, and maybe even more,
It's nothing bad. What you just learned is something really important to actually KNOW your computer. Now next time I'm SURE you will be more cautious when dealing with stuff like this. I know I had to screw up (more than once :01: ) to understand how stuff worked.Quote:

i thought i had knackered my old comp a while ago, it was a 350, and i changed i to 500 in bios, and it wouldnt post.
livy you should get some pc3200 ram thats runs 200mhz so you can have fsb&memory in sync it's the best way for amd prossesors:)
you will notice a big diference
i know, just not quite got the money, idont think it would work anyway as i will need to up the vcore to get it all the way to 200mhz, but it may well go up someway without needing more juice, and if the rams runing slow i could prob tighten up memory settings at leastQuote:

My Mushkin PC2700 runs just fine synched at 200x11.5 at 2.5T,3,3,8.

Cyonic, you made the two classic nOOb mistakes here.
Firstly, you went to fast.
Secondly, you didn't know how to recover from an error.
Now that you know how to clear your CMOS ( and if you're going to continue overclocking you would benefit from installing a switch so you can do it without opening up the case and fiddling with jumpers...), spend some time reading about the process and develop a sense of patience.
If you do it right, safely OCing your machine will take days, not minutes.
