I've tried installing three versions of Norton(corporate, 2003 and pro)and all of them roll back during the installion saying I've got a fatal error. I used to have Coprporate edition on my comp but for some reason it became disabled and there was no way I could enable it. Afterwards I found the help and support and search functions as well as system restore in XP don't work. Anyone had simaler symtoms and is it a virus?

It could be any number of things but start by getting a reg cleaner and removing all traces of norton,or goto the Symantec site they do a removal program,i think.
Then see if you can install it.

Another thing u could check mate if your in&out with norton..is the windows temp folder. Most norton product uses windows temp while installing. So u could try empting it after u uninstallll something.I'm not sure about corporate thou,i've never used it. :D

The same thing happened to me. No it ain't no virus I didn't really feel like wasting my time to discover what it was so i just formatted and that fixed everything  .

if system restore doesnt work its very likely to be a virus, fomatting your hdd would solve the problem or you could try installing another anti-virus and run a scan with that.

Decided Norton was'nt worth the effort so did a repair install on XP and got AVG 7.0 Pro. Thanks for the replies anyways. :)
